“Sucks”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

Traffic and Parking are awful in the Pearl District. Not sure why anyone would want to come down here. The Street Car runs right down the middle of the street (delaying traffic), there are bikes riding in the road everywhere, and there is never anywhere to park!

“Lot's to see and do”

Great neighborhood. If you are a book lover DO NOT miss Powell's bookstore. Loved Cargo, a huge store with a little bit of everything. If you need to find a gift for someone, this is a great store to check out. Refresh at Rogue brewery where they bring you a 1 oz sample the minute you sit down!

“The Pearl”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

It is cute and upscale but parking is such a problem that a lot of people just don't bother to go there. There aren't any parking garages except near Burnside. The rest is street parking under a lot of pressure. The city seems to approve new building projects with no dedicated parking. Seems crazy to me.

“Perfect spot to wander!”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

I could walk around the Pearl District everyday if given the opportunity. We live in Seattle, but visit Portland often. There is always something new to see, a new place to eat, or the requisite trip to Powell's Books. Take the time to walk off the beaten path to find local eateries, boutiques and unique gift stores. If you are a fan of paper, head to Oblation. Say hi to the store bird while you peruse gorgeous papers and gifts. A trip to Portland is not complete without a stop in the Pearl.

“String of Pearls”
Reviewed December 5, 2012

Walking round the Pearl district is easy and safe. You can get lost in Powell's bookshop for hours. I had about ten books under my arm to purchase when I remembered I had to fly home. And Amazon delivers to my door. Yes! and I had great coffee in Starbucks, a bit like Guinness it tastes better in Ireland. I got a great offer in Pearl Yoga $20 for a 2 week trial. I will write a review separately. Lovely parks and art galleries in this area. Plenty for the senses to feast on. People were very friendly.

Sadly there were a huge number of homeless people in Portland mainly young people. And this plays on my conscious.
