this is a nice place to visit, but I do think that for the price of admission they could include a walking map of the place. I was also disappointed when the volunteers told us that they discourage feeding the ducks. Overall it is very quiet and a nice place to visit.

This garden is so special. It's hidden from sight, because it's sunken- below street level. What a delightful surprise to discover each section of this wonderful garden. There are big and small ponds, big and small bridges, hidden and open walking paths. All manner of waterfowl (please don't feed), flowers and lush foliage, and of course, rhododendrons are the crowning glory, especially in May. There are lots of benches, nooks and crannies, so you can feel quite secluded and alone when you want. Bring the children, dogs on leash (pick up after them) or just bring a book. Don't forget your camera!

If there is one place in Portland you ought to see, this would be it. In the spring and summer, the beauty and serenity of this park is a refreshing surprise. The abundance of the wild life, beautiful birds, and gorgeous architecture and fascinating number and variety of flowers and rhododendrons is dizzying. Go there for a full day of pick nicking or just for a few hours to visit. You will think you are in Heaven...or the closest thing to it on Earth. bring your camera too, you won't regret it.

The garden is a beautiful retreat and is located in the residential neighbourhood of SE portland... right across from the prestigious reed college. Come in late spring, and the flowers are all in full bloom, and there are ducks. There is a trail walk you can follow, and you will encounter ducks and interesting plants along the way. As a student I snuck into the garden once at night with a group of friends, and its really like narnia by night. Lovely place to come on a date too! I highly recommend it. You can take a bus and tour both reed and the rhodie gardens. Its a glorious place.

I LOVE it here! It is one of my favorite places to go to find peace and quiet. I find it very Zen. Best time to go is in the spring when everything is in bloom but it is nice year round. Even in the rain. Go and remember to take your camera.
