“Wonderful city park with an "in the forest" feel”
Reviewed June 6, 2014

You're only about 4 miles from the center of Portland and you feel that you could be in the middle of a huge national forest. Great walks and even a large dog off-leash park. Spend time here to relax!

“Lots of ways to enjoy it”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

This park is great because there's lots to do there. Plenty of lawns for picnicking, good hiking trails in the forested areas, and great views of the city. If you're a serious cyclist try riding all the way to the top. If you're a downhill skateboarder then visit on Wednesdays when the park is closed to cars. There's also a playground for the kids and an amphitheater where the city hosts free concerts during the summer.

“Lovely park”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

Mount Tabor is a great urban park in a city with many well done parks to be marveled at, enjoyed, and explored. It is large enough that you can feel secluded from the city at times, yet not so large that it is hard to reach (which can be a problem for some of the larger parks in Portland, such as some parts of Forest Park). In fact, it is easily reached by bus, which is great for those without cars or not trying to fill a beautiful nature park up with cars. There are various trails which surround the long extinct volcano and provide various views of Portland, Mt Hood, and the other wonderful aspects of the surrounding landscape.

“Nicely placed view benches”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

Beautiful and restful paths with many benches and a fabulous bronze statue of a true Portland-vibe hero: the publisher and editor who changed opinions "in Oregon and the world."
