“Info”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Tip: rent a car and do same 1 day trips. The Oregon is rich in natural beauty (waterfalls, landscapes, beaches...). Check my other reviews.

The visitor center has lots of information (and maps) about downtown area. It's very well organized.

“Huge amount of info”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

This visitor center is one of the places I send folks from out of town. easy to get to by max, fun to walk into because of the fountain, and a huge amount of info on what to do both in Portland and Oregon. Wonderful people behind the counter, too.

“Helpful and convenient”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

The center is right in Pioneer Courthouse Square, open M-F. A great assortment of brochures and maps and magazines, and a mostly helpful and informed staff. Has information on the city and the state and also nearby places in Washington State.

“Um....do you see me?”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

I've been to the Visitor Information Center three times on three separate trips. Each time, I had a transportation question and each time I stood at the desk and was ignored! Yes, the people manning the desks were helping others, but there was never a nod or a quick, "someone will be with you in a minute" or "do you have a quick question?" Instead I stood for a long time waiting. No, not 5 minutes...more like 15 as the person behind the counter had a lengthy discussion with another couple about this and that. Meanwhile a group of three volunteers/employees stood behind the counter in a bunch, chatting away. Were they on break? Had they clocked out? Yes, you can get maps and information here, but be prepared for clueless customer service.
