Go on Fred Meyer days - super fun carnival rides but more affordable than a fair. Big bonus is the cool old roller skating rink.

Local amusement park with rides, bumper cars and picnic facilities. They even have an old wooden floor rolling rink. Fun place to take the kids in the summer.

My daughter was beyond delighted with the rides at Oaks Park! We visited on their "Preschooler" discount days in September and there were plenty of rides to try during the 2 hour visit. She loved the bouncy boats, the giant slide and driving the cars and motorcycle. The story time reader wasn't impressive but the cookies and milk were a nice treat!

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, my review may be kind of jaded. I grew up with amusement parks new and old. Playland at the Beach, Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk, Santa's Village, Marine World, Frontier Village and Great America. Oaks Park can't old a candle to the charm and variety of any of my childhood amusement parks. With that thought..... I've brought my kids to Oaks Park about 3-4 times. They were bored every time and never even experienced my childhood haunts. Nostalgia? Not much is to be found here. 95% of the rides are off the shelf carnival rides. An old dance hall remains but is always closed, so I can't tell ya if the inside has any charm. They have an old Roller Skating rink. yep, it's old and smells like feet. Looking for an old time Dark ride or a vintage roller coaster? Not going to find one here! They do have one old style dark ride. It used to be a semi-cool Haunted Castle, but alas, it's been converted to a poorly done and boring Lewis and Clark ride. Really?! There are some semi-modern carnival rides to entertain the kids, but not enough to keep their attention for very long. Fun House? No way! Quirky or unusual Amusement park food offerings? none. Food is bare bones... Brick hard over cooked burgers and greasy Corn Dogs. Games? Some of the usual suspects, but bare bones and prizes are cheap and of poor quality. Restrooms are old and dirty. In the midst of this permanently located Carnival there are a few gems..... A nice picnic area and some good old fashion bumper cars. Since amusement parks are scarce in the region, one would hope for at least one glimmer of decent amusement for the kids.... this isn't it. Dare I say.... try the Enchanted Forrest in Salem? I wince at the thought.

Tip: Before you go check their website. There's a deal almost every day.

This a small throwback of an amusement park, which i think it's part of it's charm. Compared to seasonal things like the Bite, it's a great way to save money, since there's also a classic roller skating rink included.

As far as the food, Oaks has a picnic area and no rules against bringing your own.

I know people have said this is a great place for kids, but I think it also makes a great date, if you don't mind being a little nerdy. The mini Golf course has a nice shady spot with a great view when you want some quite time away from the kiddies :-)
