Owner description: A historical home with wonderful views of downtown Portland.
Reviewed October 3, 2013

It was fairly close and probably worth a stop, especially for the views of the city from the garden. The home was construction when we went. Certainly an interesting history and I am glad it is being preserved.

A visit to Pittock Mansion is a must for any visit to Portland. It is right across the road from the International Test Rose Garden. The view from the grounds of the Mansion are hard to put into words. The city is right there and, if the weather is good, many of the larger Cascade Mountains are visible. Lots of renovation done during Summer 2013, but most of the house and grounds are accessible.

Beautiful place with lots of history. They allow you more entry into rooms than most places. I took lots of amazing pictures. There are beautiful gardens as well. Will go again.

If you just want the view and a peak of life at Pittock Mansion, you can tour the servants residence for free. It's not wheel chair accessible and is two stories. Very cool and fully furnished. There were docents on staff to tell us about the residence as well. Actual mansion tour is $8.50/adult.

Great place on a clear day to see Portland, its bridges, many mountains in the Cascade Range, and the Columbia River. Pittock Mansion sits atop a hill about two miles west of downtown.

We hiked to it starting at the Lower Macleay Trail (really cool, heavily populated urban trail in the woods). When we arrived in the parking lot, it did seem like there was ample parking (but I don't know if they charge).

The gardens are lovely with the back drop of Mount Hood sitting majestically in the distance. The grounds can be crowded but we found a nice place to sit and relax on the grass.
