Owner description: A historical home with wonderful views of downtown Portland.

Beautiful house, Great location. Can do self guided or guided tour. The staff were very nice, helpful, and informative. However they mention that most of the original furnishings were taken from the house and they are in the process of trying to retrieve what they can find. Being a fan of authenticity with my historical sites, it was a bit of a letdown. But don't let that take away from the grandeur of the mansion. It is worth seeing, if for nothing else the great view of the city and surrounding mountains.

This is a beautiful home that has been restored. It's hard to believe at one point it was abandoned and part of roof missing. The views of Portland from this location is awesome. The staircase takes up 1/3 of the space and is gorgeous. Walk along the grounds of the mansion. Lovely landscaping.

The Pittock Mansion is a beautiful turn of the century mansion built by Henry Pittock from his rags to riches ascension into American society. There is a great story behind this eclectic mansion and to think it was almost demolished!

The grounds are also amazing and a great place to view downtown Portland, the Columbia and mountains to the east. Check out their website for more information. It is well worth the $8.50 fee, which goes to preserving the landmark property for future generations to appreciate - a fitting legacy to Mr. & Mrs. Pittock, and their generosity to the people of Portland.

We had just 24 hours or so to explore Portland, and somehow found our way here ... What a treat! We did not do the tour on our early morning visit, and the exterior of the mansion is under construction. But the flowers and the trees and the views are amazing!! We walked and photographed and sat and talked above Portland for about an hour and just LOVED it. Great way to fill the soul, escape the pavement and the City stuff, in a short period of time. Dog friendly and not at all crowded on the morning after the 4th of July. We followed it up with a Powell Books visit and a great coffee ... Nice morning!

The house tour was great even without a guide. The gardens and wonderfully maintained and the views of the city and mountains are breathtaking. If I lived in Portland, I would want a membership so I could picnic there frequently.
