“Garden Beauty”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

The grounds of Pittock Mansion are worth seeing without going into the House itself. Year round interest and great flower and color are maintained by Parks staff and Master Gardener volunteers. But go inside. It is a walk into 1920. Henry's shower, the music room and dining room are beautiful. The jigsaw puzzle kitchen floor is amazing. It is worth waiting for a tour guide to tell the tale. Wonderful visit. THere are Christmas decorations every year with a different theme.

“Beautiful gardens with an awesome home”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

Nicely restored mansion and gardens on the edge of the city. On a clear day the view is beautiful. Home was allowed to decay but has been nicely returned to it's original glory. Great way to spend a few hours of your visit.

“Perfect setting”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

The mansion is well worth the tour of the interior but don't miss the views from outside and the garden. Mr. Pittock was the editor of the Oregonian but it was Mrs. Pittock that began what is now a 100+ year Rose Festival.

“The mansion at Christmas - lovely”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

I wasn't sure about this when we planned it, but am very glad we did. The house is amazing, and the decorations were nearly over the top. Frankly, I want to go back when it isn't so decorated, so I can better see the house itself.
I really enjoyed the 'exposure' and informative cards that explained some of the systems in use in the house - it was quite modern considering when it was built.
We were lucky and were there on a day when the gate house was open as well, and that was a delightful counterpart the 'big house'.
The grounds have spectacular views of Mt Hood, so try to time your visit for a sunny day.
Also, if you visit Portland through the Travel Portland website, you'll find a 2-for-1 coupon in the Portland Perks booklet - which makes this a real deal!

“Great reward after an urban hike”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

I love to visit Pittock Mansion in the summer -- we hike up from the Autdobon Society's bird refuge off of Cornell. Even the kids like to go. The grounds are beautiful, there are restrooms, water fountains, picnic tables, and the best view of Portland.
