Portland Japanese Garden is a very authentic Japanese Garden. It has a very similar feel of traditional Japanese gardens you will encounter in Kyoto.

We were amazed at the beauty and colors at the Portland Japanese Gardens! Spent about 3 1/2 peaceful hours there. They have gorgeous, maintained paths, bridges and assorted, fun walkways to each different area. Not easy for wheelchairs, or people with unstable walking. Many stairs, stony paths and hills. Heard they do have a shuttle up to the gardens. But for those fortunate to enjoy this sort of thing- a must and a treat for all the senses. We found lovely gifts in the shop, and enjoyed some fresh rice, soup and incredible matcha tea in the cafe.

this is one of the most japanese gardens outside of japan. it is better than seattle's and los angeles'. and the fall is the best time to tour it while the leaves are changing colours. sometimes you get an extra treat with art displays in the japanese house

We loved our visit here and it should be on the top of your list if you’re visiting Portland! We could have wandered for several hours. The staff provided a scavenger hunt paper for the kids that they *loved*. We really enjoyed our time here. Highly recommended!
