Loved, loved, loved the gardens!. So beautiful and we were there in the rain and before most things were blooming. Invokes such a feeling of peace and harmony. There are 5 separate gardens but they are so well integrated that you barely notice going from one to the other. Surprised at the reasonable prices in the gift shop and came home with a Jizo statue! Nice views of the Portland skyline offer an interesting contrast. Free shuttle, $4 all day parking. Came home excited to incorporate Japanese gardening into our yard.

One ofPortland, Oregon's best kept secrets. It is among the best Japanese Gardens in the world. Tucked in the hills of Northwest Portland above the Rose Gardens you will find a quiet stroll over a wonderful garden. When in Portland, please visit any time of the year.

From the moment I stepped into the garden it felt like I was in Japan but just minutes from downtown Portland. Again since season just changed to spring days ago the flowers and the trees were not in bloom. Recommend taking the 1045 group tour.

Well-maintained, large, quiet and varied. It was busy when I went, so less serene than it could be, but that didn't detract from the beauty of this place. Recommended!

Note: There is a tripod fee of $5 and food is not allowed in the gardens. Be quiet if it's busy.

Glad you made the trip up to the Garden. Some days can get busy here and we work hard to make to the Garden as peaceful as possible at all times. For a unique experience, visit again in winter when the Garden reveals its "bones" and visitor traffic is often lighter. The best way to get to know this ever-changing Garden is to come throughout the seasons. We hope to see you again soon.

It was very, very green. The gift shop has beautiful stuff for sale. Everything is well maintained. We enjoyed a romantic walk around the park, and it was well worth the price of admission ($9.50 each)
