“Always Perfect Even After Many, Many Visits”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

This is a go-to place for me when company comes to town. Many members of my family are gardeners, and they leave the gardens feeling inspired. There is no grass, just trees, water, shrubs, rocks, and paths. It is really like a large art sculpture. The twists and turns and nooks also make it a great place for children as well. However, there are spots that are really a pain in the neck with a stroller -- wheelchairs too might have some trouble unless there are services offered that I am unaware of.

The other interesting thing about this garden is that it is designed to appeal in different ways with different seasons. So, I would not put off a visit just because it is raining or a little cold. In fact, the rain makes it seem more poetic and mysterious.

“Peaceful oasis”

Just one of the most peaceful places you can be in Portland, not far away from the busy downtown. A real Zen place.

“A wonderful dive into 50 shades of green!”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

A great spot to visit any time of year. The garden will pleasantly assault all your senses. Visually, the smells especially after a light rain,.. and your muscles. This is not a top ADA or accessible site. But well worth the hike to get to all the best spots.

Enjoy.

“Often considered the best Japanese Garden outside of Japan”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

This is a great place to visit at any time of the year and even in the rain. Not expensive. Take the time to check when the tours are held as you will get far more from your visit with a guide. Then go back and explore the parts that really interest you in greater depth.
Each season is different and has its own look and feel.
