"Must see" place in Portland, Oregon. The place is beautiful; its a perfect place to take pictures (I love it). It's small but it is amazing place, very beautiful trees. As soon you arrive can feel relaxed and peaceful. First we took the shuttle because we didn't know that we can access the place without it but when we leave we didn't take it and enjoyed the nature waking among the trees. If we return to Portland, we go there again.

You must have seen the famous Portland Japanese Garden tree that was featured many times in photography exhibits, including National Geographic. Well, you can see this beautiful tree here - it's right in front of the big pond with the bridge. Wonderful place to stroll and take in the scenery and beauty. Many places to sit down and ponder, although the place can get crowded during the summer months. We loved visiting and would recommend to anyone.

This garden is large and sprawling situated on a hill above the city. The location affords excellent views of Mt Hood and the downtown on a clear day. The garden is serene with a nice Japanese pavillion and sand garden in the center with paths radiating outward. Fall is the best time to visit IMO to see all the Japanese maples changing colors.

This was one of the most beautiful Japanese gardens I've seen. As soon as you walk through the gate you feel relaxed and peaceful. There are lots of water features and some very beautiful trees in a large variety of textures and sizes. This is one attraction well worth seeing in Portland.

We had just a few hours in Portland and chose the Japanese Gardens for our only tourist stop. You enter the gardens by way of a long, winding, uphill path - not an easy climb for the less-than-fit, but lots of beautiful tall trees and shrubs along the way make it magical. The gardens are very pretty and have many Japanese-style features. Be sure to take the time to notice all the little details in the designs. Even the placement of the decorative rocks and sand is well-thought-out and lovely to see. To get the most out of your visit, go when the weather is clear and you have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the gardens. Combining this with the adjacent rose garden would have made it even better.
