We loved our visit here and it should be on the top of your list if you’re visiting Portland! We could have wandered for several hours. The staff provided a scavenger hunt paper for the kids that they *loved*. We really enjoyed our time here. Highly recommended!

This place is a must if you have time in Portland. The architecture of the garden and plantings are so beautiful.

Was looking for something to do over the holiday break. These gardens are wonderful year round. High recommend stopping for tea and a light snack in the tea shop.

So many colors, wonderful ponds, koi, and maples. Love the experience of being transported to Japan within a beautiful park in the U.S.!

Portland’s Japanese Garden is reputed to be the most authentic outside Japan and is surely the loveliest Japanese garden we’ve ever visited. The recent addition of a cultural center and tea house augments the delight of visiting here. If you’re visiting Portland, don’t miss it!

Very beautiful garden, plenty of things to see and have a nice walk around the beautiful plantation in the Japanese style, exhibit and tea serving ceremony. Nicely organized, and set up, you may require a little bit effort to walk to the upper side of the garden, I have seen a shuttle to pick a visitor to the garden , but I am not sure how frequently is it. Spare plenty of time to enjoy every bit of it. The only comment I may mention that the admissions fees is a little bit pricey, approximately $16. If you visit Portland, this is must to do.

Beautiful gardens!

It’s 16.95/PP for an entry fee, but if you’re a Bank of America member they occasionally do free admission days. Check the schedule for these perks. A great place to stop after the rose garden in the summer.

The garden itself is amazing, relaxing, and beautiful. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. But the hike to the garden is not for anyone with difficulties in mobility. The trail is mostly smooth but there are no handrails. It is also uphill.

In the center of Portland you find the Japanese garden, a beautiful Place to walk quietly through. Enjoy the scenery, water plants, stones and the exhibits. It takes a couple of hours and is really Worth the time.
