“Nice place to visit”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

Visited the Japanese Garden in Washington Park. It's a beautiful place and well worth a visit. We went on a Friday afternoon and it was a little crowded. I'd recommend going during the week or going earlier in the day so it is a little more peaceful. Also, the park is fairly close to downtown, also houses the zoo and the rose garden and seems to be a very popular destination. So, I suspect parking is an issue particularly on weekends. We took the light rail (Max) and then the Washington Park loop bus and found that to be pretty convenient.

“Beautiful and calming”

Five different Japanese Garden styles in one location. Very well kept up. Be sure to allow lots of time to absorb the tranquility. Great gift shop too.

“Exquisite garden; worth the train/bus ride from the city”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

The garden was full of varying textures and shade of green. The cost was $9 and we spent about an hour in the garden. Only the lotus flowers were in bloom inside the garden so the focus was on the textures and structural elements of the garden. My only complaint is that it was pretty crowded while we were there but that just speaks of its success.

What a spectacular little spot. I immediately felt calmer as soon as I walked in. Give yourself at least an hour to enjoy this gem.
