“Fabulous!”
Reviewed August 22, 2014

This is truly one of the places in Portland that should be visited. There is not enough words to describe the experience of being among thousands of roses - all the colors, shapes, and the aroma! Just marvelous!
If you are planning on visiting Japanese Garden try to allocate some time for the Rose Center. Conveniently, parking lot is shared for both locations. You might get lucky and get to see a free concert as well.

“Very Impressive even if you're not into Gardening”

The array of roses is very impressive and some of the scents they emit were pretty amazing. It's definitely worth a trip here while visiting Portland.

“Extensive, impressive, aromas travel long distances”
Reviewed August 21, 2014

i could smell some of the roses in the Japanese Garden, but did not know what i was smelling until i walked by this garden. i had to go down into the tiers to check out all the varieties. I really needed another hour, but i am glad i visited.

“A treat for the eyes and nose”

Lots of roses of many different varieties. It had a nice amphitheater. There was good music in the evening. Very pleasant to walk through and be in.

“4.5 acres of beauty”
Reviewed August 20, 2014

Spent a couple of hours wandering thru the rose garden. Easy access via bus, walking or transit from downtown Portland. Go in the morning and you can take in both the rose garden and Japanese garden across the road. The Oregon zoo is also very close by via bus.
