Great views, beautiful flowers and very serene. Love going there anytime of year. Best time is on a clear day in early summer.

“Favorite place to chill in Spring and Summer”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

I love going here. It is a bit hard to find a place to park on weekends, but there is a bus that goes there. I was last here for a mini-family reunion I planned. We brought our lunch and had a picnic in the rose gardens. We then hopped on the zoo train and spent some time at the zoo before taking the train back to the rose garden for some family photos. The views are nice on a clear day, and there is plenty of space to spread out. There are some picnic tables, but we opted for a space on the grass near the amphitheater. A short walk down the road is a great playground for kids and there is access to the Washington Park trails. It is one of my favorite places in Portland because it is so iconic, yet not so exclusive that you can't get to it. If you are from out of town you WILL want a map, as the roads to get there are winding and tricky. Sometimes you will encounter tour buses, but as I said, it is big enough to spread out. Best of all it is FREE!

“Very nice if you REALLY like roses”
Reviewed February 28, 2014

We stopped at the International Rose Test Garden in August 2013. The setting was very pretty and it was interesting to see all the varieties of roses, but I probably wouldn't recommend spending too much time here unless you REALLY like roses. For rose or gardening enthusiasts, it would be an incredible place to go. We appreciated the care and attention that must go into the garden, but the importance of it was probably lost on us non-gardeners. But it was free to get in, if I remember right, so perfectly fine for a quick stop. And the Japanese Garden was just up the road, which resonated more with us -- a must-stop in Portland!

“Excellent view, beautiful roses and FREE!”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

The view from the garden is probably the best in the city. It's fun to stop and small the roses--literally!
