“Great spot for a picnic”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

It's fun to walk around with the whole family or on a cheap romantic date. Free and good views of Portland. Connects to a lot of trails and parks in the area so you can make a day of it, hike around in the area and find a spot for a picnic lunch.

“Do stop and smell the Roses!”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

Every time we pick up family members from the airport if its a fairly early flight we drive over and have a picnic at the gardens, its a wonderful way to unwind, in the summer of course when the roses are in full bloom. You can never see every single rose there are sooo many. There is a seating area like an amphitheater and playground area for kids.

“rose city”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

i am not a gardening enthusiast however the number of different roses being tested is insane. I liked the fact that it is so well maintained and is right across from the Japanese garden. It is free to visit and has some really good views of Portland. I visited in cold december weather however I still ended up finding quite a few roses around.

If you are an enthusiast/visit, I would definitely visit this place. There is just enough parking so try to get there earlier in the morning during peak season.

“A Rose by any other name...”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

Wow! Roses of every shade and fragrance one can imagine and more!! The first time I visited these gardens I cam home with a list of at least 30 "must-have" varieties I wanted for my own garden. If you love flowers, especially roses, you will want to make sure you visit during June when they are at their peak.
