summer is a fabulous time to visit; all the roses are in bloom. I have been in the Portland area for over 30 years and last year was the first time I had been to the rose garden, what a treat I have missed all these years. My family came to visit and we had a wonderful afternoon there. be sure to take your camera--lots of perfect spots for those once in a lifetime shots,

We love popping over to the garden. The little gift shop is cute as well :)

If you like roses this is your place. If you like photography and the day is clear this is also your place. Many a calender photo of Portland, Oregon was taken right here.... and with good reason.

Although late May and June are the best blooming time to visit the Rose Garden, all summer is a great time. The minute you step out of your car in the parking lot you will smell the perfumed air . Pick a clear day and take a camera. Take time to walk through the gardens to photograph your favorite roses. There are several great photo perfect spots ... great for next year's family Christmas photos, engagement photos or even just thinking of you photos. Find the spot with roses in the foreground and Mt. Hood in the distance ! It will become one of your favorites. Even if you have gone to the Rose Garden many times, go again and just stroll, smell and enjoy the beauty. (Week end parking can be challenging so try to go on a week day if you can !)

I had never been here before and wow...what an experience. The various roses are gorgeous, the pictures you can take are fantastic, and if you go at the right time of year the smell is just beautiful. Choose a beautiful day this spring and head on over. You wont regret it!
