First time at this location and I couldn't be happier. Finally a Courtyard with a real restaurant, albeit very informal diner style, but the breakfasts were very good, and the homestyle blackberry jam on a delicious biscuit made it worth the upcharge. Great location for business, Many trendy reatuarants nearby. Doesn't have the scenery of the riverside Marriott. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.

When deciding to stay on points rather than stay at The Nines for under $200 a night, I was worried that my trip would have a major downgrade. I was definitely surprised to see that the hotel had a boutique feel and was not the average Courtyard or Marriott for that matter. The rooms were clean and more upscale, no floral comforters! The location is ideal as you are few blocks walking to most attractions, and in-between two major public transportation lines. The Original offered a good meeting point, drinks, and extended weekend hours. Only complaint was around the elevator, using the key to get up was a great security feature - but we took many rides up and down when others were too slow to put their key in.

Room Tip: 16 Floor was nice, but the elevators are slow and it can take a long time to get down when there are a lot of people trying to leave.

Thank you for writing a review. I am glad that you were pleasantly surprised. We are not the typical Courtyard which is said by most of our guests. We hope to see you again at our hotel.

Having only stayed at a Courtyard once, days before, we were concerned if an extended stay here would be a good idea or not. We arrived at the hotel, the valet took the car, the luggage and wisked us to our room with barely a stop at the front desk. When we arrived at our room, my wife wasn't happy about its location. Three minutes later, we were in a different room she liked much better and spent the eight days living there.

Everything in the room worked as it should and they were only too happy to fill our requests for more of this and maybe a lttle of that during our stay. The staff gave us so many tips about what to do or not do in Portland or how to beat the lines at this spot or that spot. It was SO helpful, they helped make our time in Portland productive, even over the Labor Day weekend.

The location is PERFECT! Wanna walk a few blocks and sit by the river? Do it! Or maybe take a short stroll down to Voodoo Doughnuts? Why not? How about hit a few Food Carts? They are right across the street and if you need more choices, they are more just three blocks away. As far as locations go, this is place ideal!!

Everyone we encountered at this hotel was so friendly and wanting to help or hear about our adventures that after a few days there we almost felt like family. Well, good friends anyway.

I cannot think of anything remotely negative to say about this hotel. We would stay there again tomorrow if we had the opportunity. Great spot!! We loved it!

Room Tip: Corner rooms have great windows for viewing Portland.

I stayed here in August 2012 for a long business trip with a couple of days of vacation on the end. I was there for about 1 week. After looking at several hotels in the downtown area, for our group, this by far was the best deal. Their planning staff (sales) was great to work with also. Very accommodating.

The rooms were spacious, VERY clean, quiet and updated. One of my colleagues had a room across from the elevator and was a little worried it was going to be noisy. Nope.

The in-hotel restaurant, The Original Dinerant was pretty good too.

The location was really close to the mass transit stops (1/2 block), which was great. But if you need to rent a car, there are several locations within a couple of blocks. We ended up renting a car for 2 days to do some day trips after the business trip.

I'm a big Starbucks fan and there is one right across the street. :-) (and within a block of where ever you are in Portland) :-)

Many restaurants and shops are within walking distance. If you're going to be doing things in Portland, no need to have a car. You can dine and have fun within walking distance or via the great Portland mass transit system.

Just a note, the Free Zone for rail was discontinued as of Sept. 1, 2012 and most of the other fares went up. Here is more on the fare changes http://trimet.org/alerts/farechanges.htm

Room Tip: Get a room as high as possible due to street noise.

Was on a business trip over Labor Day weekend. It was my first time visiting Portland and I wanted to stay in a central location. Most hotels were pretty expensive as well but it was worth it since I did not have a vehicle to worry about. But I also had a Friends and Family rate.

PROS:
- Located in a great location! Great walking distance to everything.
- Great staff. Super accommodating and helpful with Portland questions.
- Rooms were very comfortable.

CONS:
- Had to scan the card for each level pressed in the elevator. Therefore, if we had 4 people in the elevator - we had to scan the card 4 different times to press our levels.
