Owner description: The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is a nationally-renowned science center providing science learning to a range of audiences. Our programming is guided by OMSI’s long-term vision to promote a healthy, innovative, and sustainable society where everyone is prepared to participate in civic life. OMSI’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programming helps visitors and program participants master 21st century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration. We achieve this vision through exhibits, classes, camps, traveling educators, and adult programs around the state, making OMSI a trusted educational resource to all Oregonians.

After wandering around the Pacific Science Center, in Seattle, for 2 years, going to OMSI was a huge treat! The facility is clean and full of interesting exhibits. We also loved touring The USS Blueback. We definitely plan on going back and are considering buying a membership. Even our adult children enjoyed themselves. Our 10 year old loved the chemistry lab. I loved the fact they take safety very seriously and help keep things running smoothly.

I love Omsi, they have had some really amazing exhibits. My favorite to date is the dinosaur exhibits. It is so neat to see the bones and get a feel for how large the dinosaurs really were.
The play area is great to. They have a water area that provides coverups for the little ones so they don't get drenched. They have a reading area with a puppet show set up.
Omsi also has movies and they are educational and fun to watch in the dome. You have to see it to believe it. There is a small gift shop that has a few things and a cafeteria.

I was blown away by how hands-on so much of the museum was and it was not just buttons to push, you could do science experiments and activities that actually required thought and concentration. As an adult, I had so much fun there, kids must have a blast. I really enjoyed the Chemistry and Physics labs where you could perform real experiments on your own and the tour of the submarine was pretty amazing as well. There was so much to do we didn't get to all of it and there was truly something for everyone and for many different age groups.

This is a hands-on museum. Museum doesn't really describe OMSI. This is a play ground for the imagination. There is even an area for the under 6. From the Omnimax shows (we saw Deep Sea) to the planetarium shows (we saw a laser light show) it was enjoyed by grandparents and grandchildren alike. The café had a wide selection plus a kids sack lunch for under $5. There is even a place to eat if you bring your own sack lunch. We were there early, which was good since it became crowded by afternoon (it was a Saturday). Dino bones, small live animals, space, life science and all the hand-on activities kept us going to almost closing. Our experience was so great we became members so we could return often.

I have been to OMSI three times first in 2002, second in 2006 and third in 2008. There are lots of neat exhibits including the chemistry lab, life sciences hall and a motion simulator. I never have had time to do the submarine tour as we have been trying to do other things in Portland. Still better than some other museums in Portland.
