Owner description: The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is a nationally-renowned science center providing science learning to a range of audiences. Our programming is guided by OMSI’s long-term vision to promote a healthy, innovative, and sustainable society where everyone is prepared to participate in civic life. OMSI’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programming helps visitors and program participants master 21st century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration. We achieve this vision through exhibits, classes, camps, traveling educators, and adult programs around the state, making OMSI a trusted educational resource to all Oregonians.

The latest version of "OMSI", previously located at the Oregon Zoo area and before that, on NE Hassalo St, is a great Portland tourist (or local) stop. With an Omnimax theatre, planetarium, the Blueback submarine, permanent exhibits and special traveling exhibits, it can be a great for adults as well as families. There are special events such as member only nights, after dark" adults only nights and summertime astronomical viewing events hosted by a Portland telescope group. Check their webpage for updated info. Memberships are also available.

My family and I love visiting OMSI. It always has something to offer for all ages. I've been bringing my son here since he was little, and he still loves coming here at 14.

I've been coming here since I was 11 years old (when it was still in Washington Park). There are plenty of hands-on displays for children, and enough exhibits to keep an adult happy. I do recommend purchasing the submarine tour. If you belong to a museum in your own city, check and see if they will give you reciprocal member benefits.

We had a blast with our 6 year old - she loved all the exhibits & the natural disaster feature was great.

We had the groupon and were able to see the sub and an imax. The sub was really fun and my boys are 8 & 11 and really enjoyed it. We also saw the tornado movie. They enjoyed that too. Saw grossology and toured all the exhibits. Their favorite is still the bottle rockets. We took our own lunch and sat outside. They were remodeling the cafe so there wasn't much room to sit and eat inside. It was cold outside but covered. They did charge for parking but only $3.
