Owner description: The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is a nationally-renowned science center providing science learning to a range of audiences. Our programming is guided by OMSI’s long-term vision to promote a healthy, innovative, and sustainable society where everyone is prepared to participate in civic life. OMSI’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programming helps visitors and program participants master 21st century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration. We achieve this vision through exhibits, classes, camps, traveling educators, and adult programs around the state, making OMSI a trusted educational resource to all Oregonians.

Great place for the kids to explore and learn. My kids have loved it since they were little. Exhibits rotate - we are going to check out the Grossology exhibit with our cub scout group. A must do a few times a year. We purchased the membership, which really cuts down on the costs - free entrance, and some theater tickets.

We love OMSI! Not just because of the science exhibits. That's what one would expect, right? The staff is very friendly. The kids are given a lot of room and respect so it feels like home to them. The cafe is great-just enough of a mix between healthy and unhealthy. The constant turnover in programs/exhibits keeps us interested. The classes.
If you have kids, this place is a must in Portland!

Be sure to check out the submarine outside.
I particularly enjoy their exhibitions but my son can spend all day on the Science Playground.

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI for short) is a wonderful museum and especially caters to those who like to use their hands to explore science, mechanics, chemistry, electrical and visual digital formats. There is a wing entirely dedicated to experiments, vacuum rooms that have long hoses and countless balls to project, a chemistry department with actual experiments, an infrared projection screen where people can see how much heat they really give off, a recycle museum, hands on textures, tools and other assorted items. You will NEVER BE ABLE TO SEE ALL OF IT in one visit. Then there are the IMAX theaters, the planetarium, mazes, films and other exhibits about ethnicity, advocating for the environment, clean water and air, etc. Many of the exhibits displayed questions and encouraged the kids and adults to "reason out their answers". It was spell-bounding and I would recommend it for old and young alike. The food in the museum is a bit pricey but good. It can be very noisy when groups of school children arrive. Accessible for the handicapped with an escalator. The volunteers are wonderful, educated and helpful! I will definitely go again there again on my next trip to Portland.

This museum is so refreshingly fun for adults and children alike! The Grossology exhibit for kids was wonderfully gross and informative. Our tour on the USS Blueback in the harbor was amazing and a once in a lifetime experience! We loved the fog machine demonstration, the physics lab....we just loved everything! We are from Boston and I have been going to the same Museum of Science there for years. It doesn't even come close to OMSI. I recommend it a million times over!
