“Disappointing, didn't find anyting I was looking for”
Reviewed October 18, 2010

Lot's of new titles at full price, poor selection of used books, rude people in the book buying section. Yes I live here, I used to live in a town with a wonderful secondhand bookstore great service and friendly people so I have something to compare it to. Just because Powell's is big does not mean it is better.

“Book Lover's Heaven!”
Reviewed September 21, 2010

This is like... the mecca for book lovers! Every book in the world is here! (Well, Almost.)
They even have a room of rare and out of print books.
What a great way to spend some time and get some great deals on books!

“Powell's”
Reviewed August 21, 2010

I love Powell's, and come to Portland equipped with a list of hard to find out of print titles. The pricing on some used items is a little high, but there is no sales tax in Oregon. And if that's what it takes to maintain the huge retail space, I'm on board. So much seems to change in Portland, but Powell's is eternal.

“Absolutely lives up to the hype!!”
Reviewed August 13, 2010

This is the best bookstore I have ever visited. Period. Loads and loads and loads of books. Used books interfiled with new books -- very cool! Great coffee shop. Excellent children's collection. Excellent graphic novel collection. Super friendly staff. And free parking for an hour if you buy stuff (which you will). Drive around the block until you see their parking garage. Supremely awesome bookstore.

“Cool Place”
Reviewed July 30, 2010

Definitely worth it to stop in- it is huge. But it didn't feel like it had too much character, and the prices were the same as the airport. A little overrated, but if it's not out of your way, worth it to stop in.
