“Nice hotel with great rooms but front desk staff was lacking in local knowledge...”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

We absolutely loved our room and it even had a partial view of the river! First thing we did was jump in the pool! But after that we wanted to just order a pizza and relax so we called the front desk to find out who delivered and they reffered us to a place called bandinis... We looked it up and it wasn't even near by so we call again so ask if that the only place the girl didn't know of any other pizza places near by. So we order and an hour later recieved a horrible pizza that looked like it came out of the freezer.... Next night asked front desk again if they knew of any near by restaurants with good desserts ...after being put on hold They reffered us downtown.... Come to find out upon leaving there's a restaurant across the hwy called bj's pizza & ice cream! Wish The front would have known it was there too... Maybe they need a concierge service because nobody was helpful at all in that department

This a large, relatively old, but well maintained hotel and convention center. The personnel is extremely friendly, grounds are great, especially in May, when everything is in bloom. The room was very spacious, with all conveniences - fridge, microwave, free WiFi, additional sink outside the bathroom, lots of drawers, comfortable large desk. I would add a handlebar in the bathtub and a chair in the room. The beds are a little soft, but it is matter of taste. Perhaps the best thing is powerful and quiet AC. The restaurant in the hotel is quite good and has a beautiful panoramic view on the river. If you want to save, across the street there is a big shopping center with several chain eateries. The hotel is close to big roads, very convenient if you drive, since it is within may be 10 minutes from downtown. Keep in mind that the hotel is "dog-friendly." Most dogs are well behaved, but you may see some fur in the elevator. Did not bother us at all.

Great spot near the airport, easy access to I-5, about eight minutes to Convention Center or downtown. Easy parking if you have a car. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the restaurant has a great view of the River. What really made our stay memorable was the friendly, helpful staff! We will stay there again for next years convention.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the end of a hallway. The hallways are a bit noisey until after 11 pm.

My husband booked this hotel at an amazing rate on an online discount site while I was traveling for a family emergency. I was really leery, especially for the price, but once I arrived I was thrilled with the quality and service at this hotel! The room was spacious and beautiful with a gorgeous view of the river. The bathroom and linens were equal to places for which we spend twice as much to stay. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. The rain can shower head was heavenly. I would gladly choose to stay here again.

Spent six nights at this property. We decided not to rent a car, instead used the fine mass transit system that can get travelers to all parts of the city. The only drawback to this plan was that we had to wait for the hotel shuttle to take us and pick us up from the Delta Park station. Since it was cold and rainy, this was not always pleasant. The Hotel itself has a nice workout room, fine pool, is well landscaped and has a very helpful and pleasant staff. The menu was varied and delicious. One suggestion: the women who answer the phone have the "20something speak" syndrome meaning, they speak fast, do not ennunciate clearly. dropping the end of words. I am not deaf nor stupid, but it's hard to understand: "RedLionontheRiverhowmayIhelpyou?" Aside from the ease of getting off the island and use of language, I have zero complaints.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the river.

I had a great week long stay here. They handled our 800 person conference smoothly and professionally....never had any traffic jams at restaurants, coffee shop, breakfast, elevator...etc.
On the North side of Portland so you are away from downtown...Vancouver, Washington is right next door across the river. There is a shopping center a few blocks away, as well as a huge Safeway where you can get all kinds of fresh food, deli, etc. and also a plethora of fast food restaurants..including Starbucks.
The hotel was clean, housekeeping was fast, the towels were big and fluffy. The mini fridge in the room is a little larger than most hotel mini's...ours held a weeks worth of water, soda, milk and food.
Definitely ask for a river view room.
Room service was the best I've had in a long time. Not many hotels in Oregon have room service and the ones that do are not that great. I had some to die for fish and chips with come crack like chiptole sauce that I can't quit dreaming about.

Room Tip: High floor, river view.

We had an awesome stay. Great room over looking the pool as and the Columbia river. We came to Portland to celebrate my husbands birthday and to go to the Oregon zoo. The location was close to the city without the city prices. Already planning another stay again soon.
