I adored my petite Provence experience. I was dining alone. Sat at the bar and had the friendliest, most helpful bartender. He recommended a crisp Oregon Chardonnay and a grilled chicken sandwich on fantastic fresh baked bread. Loved the energy of this spot and especially appreciated the incredibly hospitable service. I would definitely go back many times over

While this restaurant is part of a chain of three, this Alberta Street NE location didn't look it. And the pastries and cakes were the next best thing for going to a Parisian patisserie.

A family group of 7 showed up around lunchtime on Monday - and the restaurant was absolutely packed. But Holly (I think that was her name) was exceedingly gracious, oozed love and compassion, and promised to find us a place to sit within 20 minutes. We waited around 10 and were seated inside. (Outdoor would have been best, but it was understandably popular and would have required a loss of seating - and 3 tables - just to accommodate us.)

Everyone got something different. And everyone pronounced their food delicious. And I can testify, 'cause I taste tested two others' selections. French food? No, sandwiches. But exceedingly good ones. The Monte Cristo was delectable and its powdered sugar goodness was oddly enhanced by what appeared to be homemade raspberry preserves. The smoked salmon sandwich on croissant was also wonderful. And my petit pain au chocolat was perfectly heated and delightful. And the bill for 7? Only a little over $10/person with tip!

A great place which we will definitely visit again when we are in Portland.

We had dinner here on our return from Vancouver. We were accompanied by our favorite no. 2 daughter who lives in Portland. Having been here for lunch or take out pastries and bread we were familiar with the venue. But, the dinner menu was very different. Our friendly and competent server suggested that we order 2 of each main dish as they are small portions. We took her advice, excellent choice! Each dish was a winner and the total bill for 6 mains was only $39. Excellent value.

Very small plates of food worth sharing with one or two others.
Great pastries, nice atmosphere.
We were there for the big last Thursday bash and watching the sights of the event was better than any show on TV!!!
