“Best croissants!”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

My family loves breakfast here. Given a choice of toast or croissant with your breakfast....who would choose lowly toast? Please. Eat a croissant...they are heavenly. Had a really delicious and different breakfast: risotto cakes with asparagus and poached eggs on top. Oh my. Their coffees are quite good as well. And it's hard not to be overwhelmed by the beautiful displays of pastries and breads. I would leave with my arms filled with bags of baked goods if it weren't for the fact that I'm always so full after breakfast. My kids loves the hashes; either corned beef or salmon. Depending on the day/time, it can be quite busy. One day, we got seated very quickly, another day; a 45 minute wait which began to border on too long. Still, I would definitely go again.

“A "Petite" but great cafe on Alberta Street”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

Petite Provence on Alberta Street is one of our favorite places to go--for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or even dinner. The selection of beautiful pastries is outstanding, though on a busy weekend morning some of the most popular items sell out. We've had mostly good service, though on occasion it can be very slow. We like the dynamic cafe ambiance as it feels very much like the popular "local" it is. However we avoid sitting at the outdoor tables because of the exhaust from the passing cars. Sometimes we "take out" pastries to enjoy at home, when the wait is too long for seating. We often get a loaf of the wonderful Cranberry Wanut bread (sliced on request) to take home too. One time we enjoyed dinner with background music by very talented local guitarists. The menu choices vary, but all seem to be good value with generous portions. Some, like Northwest Salmon Hash, are large enough for two. I would recommend a recent addition, Steak Benedict, served on a croissant.
It can be quite a long wait to get seated for brunch/lunch or Sat./Sun., but on a weekday morning it's usually easy to get a table right away. We always bring visiting friends or family to experience for themselves why we like this place so much.

“Lovely place - jewel of the neighborhood”

Came here straight from the airport for delicious mid-day brunch. Very attractive decor, extensive bakery of beautiful and delicious creations, and fresh, creative food. Pleasant & efficient service; would definitely return.

“Happy Hour delights”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

First time to visit during the afternoon and we arrived just in time for the 3-6pm happy-hour menu. We tried the quiche and desert offering for happy hour and a cup of hot chocolate nearly as good as that we had in Paris. No long lines, and we had a table by the front window for people watching (one of my delights). Service was great, as always, and this time was very relaxing without the noise from a full house. We suggest this for a late lunch or early supper, or just an afternoon tea.
