I love farmers' markets and was not disappointed by this one. So many choices of farms with fruits and vegetables, mushrooms, meats, etc. The prepared food was amazing. Pine State Biscuit has a place here and the wait is well worth it. The prices were reasonable and everyone will let you sample before you buy, eliminating one from taking home an awful piece of fruit. Our bags were loaded down when we left. We just wished we lived here to come every weekend!

We were lucky enough to experience 2 markets while in town. The first was in Pioneer Plaza. The berries were beautiful and only $3 for a pint. You could also get 3 pints for $8. We bought some and ate them as we walked around. The other market was at Shamansky Park (not sure on the spelling). It was a beautifully wooded park with even more fruits and veggies than Pioneer. They also had live music and some craft tents.

We went to PSU farmer's market on 4th of July weekend with the hopes of getting a yummy lunch then buying some produce. We arrived from out of town at 12:45 or so (they close at 2:00) on a beautiful sunny Saturday. We were starving! Upon arrival at the hot food stands (tamales, biscuit sandwiches, etc), we discovered very long lines and nearly every vendor saying they were sold out of their signature dish. Long lines were for whatever was left... not much to choose from. We ended up leaving campus to wander and find a cafe, buying some cherries on the way out. As we walked through, I saw that nearly every bakery window was nearly empty, which was a bummer because its rare to find so many gluten free baked goods, and something I would like to have bought. It's a beautiful and huge market (a sight to see!) but I recommend you go early and expect big crowds on summer holiday weekends.
