I stayed at the Nines for 3 days over July 4th weekend and cannot rave enough about this hotel. The hotel is located in the heart of Portland across the street from Pioneer Square which is perfect if you would like to see a movie or shop during your stay. It is also across the street from the free max lightrail...so save your money on a rental car and fly into Portland and take the lightrail right to the hotel. The "Max" lightrail provides great transportation and takes you almost everywhere you would want to go in the city. The bathroom is very modern and very spa-like. The room was beautifully decorated with beaded lamps, lush bedding, and a sitting area near the window so you can enjoy the beautiful skyline. There was a 42" plasma tv with a nice varierty of channels and a posh dining area .360 is an upscale nightclub and restaurant overlooking the city on top of the hotel....very nice. The front desk and all hotel staff were very accommodating and always welcoming everytime I re-entered the hotel and asked how my stay was twice. The housekeeping was prompt and very polite when I called to ask for a toothbrush. Overall, I would highly recommend this stay for anyone esp a honeymoon couple as the ambience beckons love and beauty.

My experience included contact with an excellent staff and a gorgeous, well appointed but sadly loud and bright court-yard facing room (no blackout shade). If noise (music) 'til the restaurant closes won't bother you, then book here. Also, my interior room meant there was no way to take any fresh air or to judge the weather (umbrella needed?) but a call to the front desk provided an answer.

Booked through hotwire.com -- at a great introductory rate (new hotel spring 2009).

What a great experience in Portland. I'm constantly traveling accross the country, and this is truly one of the nicest hotels I've had the pleasure to stay at in many years. The amenities are first class, the staff is outstanding - from the first greeting by the bell crew to the final good-bye with the GM, and everything in between - and the food was excellent. I'm looking forward to returning with my wife for a long weekend getaway. I can not say enough good things about this experience. This place should be called "the Tens" with a ten star rating. My family and I stayed in this hotel for one week. Everyone at the Nines was superb and did not hesitate to assist any requests. All suggestions for dining were excellent. The valets were on their A-game; car brought quickly and always asked if directions were necessary. Turndown service was automatic with bottle water and brownies. We were on the 10th fl. and the room was very quiet; no street noise or hallway sounds. An excellent hotel when conducting business in the heart of downtown Portland.

One of the best hotels in the Starwood chain. The location is unbeatable and within walking distance to everything. The Platinum lounge is incredible and is staffed with the most attentive and polite people I have ever met. There is always something to munch on for breakfast, lunch, dinner and happy hour and...Get this...The cocktails are FREE!

The rooms are luxurious. The view is A+ Check it out!

We Stayed Saturday night on a paid reservation for two rooms. This is definitly the best hotel in Portland.

The Lounge is one of the best I have seen in the US. Colin, the lounge concierge exceeded our service expectations.

Room- Small interior rooms overlooking the atrium, but still very nice. I brought my daughter on this trip and she stayed in the 2nd room. This is where the surprise came in. She suffers from allergies to cats and dogs and was up all night sneezing and her eyes were swollen shut the next day. I love the fact that this hotel is pet friendly, but I had assumed that they would have specific rooms set aside for those guests. I would suggest that they at least designate a specific floor for pets, as I am sure there are many guests that have allergies.

Overall this is still my favorite hotel in Portland and I will continue to stay there, unless the children come along--then we will have to find another hotel to avoid the allergy issue. The location is perfect...right in the middle of town and within walking distance to everything

A remarkable swanky hotel right in the heart of downtown Portland. The Max train and street cars were conveniently accessible. I loved the mod/swanky decor in the spacious rooms. Fabulous room service, the beds were extremely comfortable. I have nothing negative to say about The Nines. I will definitely return.
