Pros;
- Location
- Well furnished and equipped rooms
- Food and bar in the hotel are great!
- Service

Cons;
- Parking is problematic (but there is a Valet)
- The design is trendy, but trends do change

Bottom line;
One of the best in downtown Portland

Room Tip: stay away from rooms near the elevators - noisy, even very late at night

Perched on the top of Macy's [great for buying what you've left behind], The Nines offers luxurious accommodations. Its two restaurants, like many in Portland, execute the farm-to-table ballet with precision and imagination; in other words, the food is better than most you'd find at home [unless you lived in San Francisco or New York].

Rooms are sizeable and well-appointed, especially for those who favor softer mattresses. One caution: rooms for disabled patrons, while larger than standard, seem to have a peculiar layout. Closets won't accommodate long garments, like raincoats; the bathroom while large and accessible for wheelchairs is poorly lit.

None of this matters much, really, considering the level of service offered by front desk and concierge staff. Reminiscent of fine European hotels, but delivered in the relaxed but efficient Pacific Northwest style, all our questions and requests were handled quickly and gracefully. Concierge Jason ably planned our short stay to include a remarkable visit to Portland's extraordinary Farmers' Market, a short tram ride from the hotel.

Having stayed at most up-scale Portland hotels over the past few years, I've now found a new favorite. I'll be back at The Nines. Maybe I'll even figure out the name.

Thank you for your rave review! I am pleased to learn that you enjoyed our property throughout and that our team provided an exceptional experience. It would be my pleasure to welcome you again in the future for another luxury experience.

Also, here is a small hint on the name… we reside upon the top 9 floors of the beautifully maintained and historic Meir & Frank building where once upon a time folks traveled to shop for special occasions in which they would dress to ‘the Nines’.

The hotel is located right on top of Macy's. It is right in the middle of the downtown shopping district. The rooms are very pretty and decent size. There is turndown service every night. I stayed on the club floor and the club room is nice. Hor d'oeurve selection is not so great. Breakfast included pastries, bagels, yogurt, and deviled eggs. No cereal, oatmeal, fruit, or any hot items. Mid day snack was chips with dip. Night team, 3 selections of sweet items, such as macaroons, some sort of cake, and perhaps a mousse. I just wish the clubroom had hot and savory items.

Regarding parking - the hotel charges an arm and a leg for valet parking. I recommend you just park yourself. There are plenty of parking lots nearby, all within 5-10 min walk that charges way less. I was here on a weekend and weekend evening rates are $5 from 5pm to 7am. Weekend morning rates are $5 all day, from 7am to 5pm. So essentially you pay about $10-12 dollars for 24 hours. Weekday day rates are $12.

There is fitness facility, with cardio and weights. No steam room or hotel tub.
The hotel is nice and comfy, but nothing that impressed me. It was a typical nice high end hotel. Would stay here again.

The Nines is located in the very center of downtown Portland, next to the courthouse. It is easily walking distance to pearl district, powells, food carts, etc. You need a car to get out to hawthorne/division neighborhoods. You pretty much have to valet, given its location. Not cheap, but they valets are generally very helpful and polite.

The hotel is similar in feel to a W, but with better service and not as seedy. The lobby is full of modern art and the rooms are similarly styled but with some classic touches too. The rooms are fair sized, very clean and the staff is very helpful.

The work out facility is fine. Room service was pretty prompt. We had access to the club floor which was fine but I don't know that it is a good value proposition, given the premium you pay.

I'd definitely come back to The Nines- it was comfortable, stylish, and well located. My only criticism is related to the price/value ratio.
