“Loved the neighborhood”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

Reminded me of Berkeley, CA. Nice room, decent breakfast, easy parking. Hotel manager was exceptional. We had a double room on the backside of the building. I didn't hear any traffic at all. Of course, loved having Aveda products. Enjoyed our stay.

We recently stayed at this hotel while traveling with family. The hotel is very nice and reasonably priced.

At first glance, the location seems less than prime. In reality, though, it is on the edge of a nice neighborhood with a good selection of restaurants nearby. Also, the streetcar is within walking distance, which makes downtown and the waterfront easily accessible without driving.

The front-desk staff were very friendly and helpful.

Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. Admittedly, the view from our room was unspectacular ... a result of this location being on the edge of an industrial-looking area. The difference in price compared to a downtown hotel, though, more than made up for this minor issue.

We certainly recommend the Silver Cloud in Portland, and we would gladly stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are probably quieter, because they face a parking lot rather than a busy str...

After traveling for days and needing a peaceful sleep, we stayed at the Silver Cloud Inn on our last day in Portland. The hotel was very modern and clean, which we liked. The king room was large and had everything we could have desired. The problem was that we didn't slept well at all due to the noisy traffic that passed by all night long, and the bed wasn't as comfortable as ones we've had at other hotels. I had asked to be on the top floor away from the street, but due to construction on the 4th floor and lack of any king rooms on the back side, we were moved to the 3rd floor. I hoped the traffic noise wouldn't be an issue, but it was. If you are a heavy sleeper, this is a great place and I'd recommend it. If you are a light sleeper in need of rest, I'd say try somewhere else.

Besides the clean, new feel to the hotel, it also provides free breakfast, free parking and is in close proximity to desirable areas. We had conflicting feelings since everything was very nice with the exception of our night's sleep - which I consider an important part of a hotel stay.

As I returned from vacation I was sorry to find you were unsatisfied with your stay. Sleep, friendliness, and cleanliness is what we sell and we fell short in one of these areas. I was surprised with the bed condition as all of our mattresses are new within the last year. Our single kings are on the front side of the building, where Vaughn St. can be busy at times. Please contact me next time for a complimentary uprade, as we would love another chance. Thank you for your time and comments.

Short story: this hotel is clean, the room was large and there was free parking and free breakfast.

The location was in between the northwest district and the industrial district. It was a short walk to multiple restaurants and stores in the NW district, and we enjoyed walking up 23rd and 21st streets. If you don't mind walking (Which we don't), the Pearl district is about 1.5 miles away, and you get to walk through a pretty neighborhood to get there.

The bed was very comfortable and we slept well in it. The room was clean, bathroom was spacious. There were WAFFLES at breakfast. for free. And did I mention free parking?

It's not hip or swanky, but it is a good value and a very solid place to stay.

We just came back from this beautiful city, this was our first trip there. I did a lot of research on hotels, restaurants and sites to visit. Once again TA members were the best reference that I could have had. This hotel is just a little out of the way ( nob hill area) but the area is nice. And nothing could had been better than to have Forest Park 5 minutes away. This is a must if you like to jog or be in contact with nature, the park is beautiful, so green, a little river runs through, so while you jog you hear the birds, breath super clean air and listen to the water running. This is priceless.
The hotel itself was what my family of 4 needed, an impeccable, spacious room with 2 comfortable beds plus a sofa bed, a big LCD TV (husband happy!), a little fridge, double vanity, separate from the w/c, wi-fi (daughter happy!) .A/C worked great. Complementary breakfast was good.
1 block from the hotel is a co-op with lots of fresh produce, deli section (yum!) and groceries. We had lunch there one day.
Also it is close to 23rd street where the restaurants and shops are.
Barbara at the front desk was always in a good mood and willing to help.
Thanks for a great stay!
Portland has a great vibe: eco conscious, organic, the people are very friendly and helpful, very down to earth, wish I could visit again soon

Excellent location in Knob Hill. Very clean, modern, friendly staff, large room. It was perfect for me and my family for 3 days. A real find. Walking back from the restaurant area at night felt a little iffy, as you must go through some isolated spots, but nothing too bad. Free parking as well.

Upgraded from a king to a room with 2 queen beds, the room was nice, beds and pillows very comfortable, and room large enough to also have a small couch and a desk. Wireless worked great with a passcode. The free parking and price was the big draw, but it turned out that we LOVED this area and were glad we didn't stay in the Pearl district. 23rd Avenue has a much better vibe and is a popular and trendy area to shop, dine, drink, walk, and just hang out. The hotel gave us all-day passes for the trolley - fun to ride all the way to the South Waterfront to see the area without the hassle of parking your car - just walk 8 blocks down to 23rd and Marshall to get to the stop.

It was warm in Portland when we were there and the only negative about this room was the location over the outside stairs to the parking lot, the employees enjoy late night smoke breaks in this location so we couldn't have the window open, we used the in-room air conditioner instead. Everything else about the hotel and helpful staff was great and not only would we stay here again, we recommend it!

Room Tip: Avoid a room over the back stairs to the parking lot
