Good location, very nice, superior service, room a bit small requiring us to move some furniture around. Very accomodating staff.

The Hotel deLuxe (formerly known as the Mallory Hotel) was well recommended by Trip Advisor reviewers and my wife and I can only agree. The hotel has recently undergone extensive renovations, but the 1920s-30s style has been retained. Each floor has been given a theme from old black and white movies, which we found interesting. The hotel is at the edge of the central city zone (just beyond the tram fareless zone) and about a five minute walk to the principal Portland city streets. The Hillsbro tram passes on its inward journey to the city past the deLuxe.
The room we had was most comfortable although fairly small. The room and bathroom had been tastefully renovated but still retained much of its character. The bedside Ipod docker/radio was a welcome feature. We had drinks in the rather grand lobby one evening. In summary I recommend this hotel to Portland visitors who want comfort and a break from the modern skyscraper minimalist hotel that we all stay in far too frequently!

I have stayed at this hotel 6 times and every expereince has been excellent. The staff is freindly and helpful. They are very dog friendly and make staying at a luxury hotel with a dog a real treat. Beds for the dogs, treats, bowls and a special dog menu. The beds for people are very comfortable. I have used the "make it so" button extensively and so far there is nothing they have not been able to do from headsets for my iPod to reading material to special pillows. The rooms are very nice but not large. The decor throughout the hotel is great. I have never anywhere experienced more helpful staff. My only complaint is the charge for WiFi in the rooms. The WiFi is slow and to charge $10 for 24 hours seems high when most other places I have stayed provide it free.

Stylish hotel centrally located in downtown Portland with easy access (15 minute walk) to the Pearl District while also having minimal street noise. Super comfortable beds, great bathrooms with good products, very pet friendly, and mod bar off the lobby. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable, and I received a prompt and thoughtful email response to the comment card I sent back to the hotel. The deLuxe is definitely in the top tier of hotels in Portland.

From the time we pulled up at the curb and were greeted by Brandon all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Staff customer service really was exceptional. The room was spacious, the bathroom was huge. The beds were incredibly cozy and comfortable. The location of this hotel in downtown Portland is awesome. Within a 10 or 15 minute walk you can cover downtown. We headed for the waterfront along the Willamette river, ate dinner at Paddy's Bar and Grill, and strolled back to the Hotel later. The big bummer for this place is that along with all of the deluxe features like comfort and location, they try too hard to nickel and dime ($5 and $10!) you for too many things: $16 to $24 for overnight parking in their garage; a basket full of pay-as-you-snack goodies on the bed ($3 for a 65 cent Snickers--I kid you not); and the tackiest of all: $9.95 to connect to the Hotel wireless Internet connection. I don't know about you but I haven't paid for wireless in the last three years at hotels/motels. Oh, and they even tack on $1.00 for a local phone call. Sigh.

We had a great time at the Hotel Deluxe. As a matter of fact, more than once during our four nights, I turned to my husband and said "I LOVE this hotel". Our room was adequately sized, with a queen bed, but no view whatsoever. That was ok with us, because we went out to get the view. The TV was great, flat panel with HD...with respect to the view, maybe if they got a Portland/Oregon video in HD and put it on the TV as the startup screen, that would be good. :-)

The decor was fun, and really made me feel like I was staying someplace special. I felt especially lucky to be on the 4th floor, and I liked the "Mogambo" print there (I'm related to one of the actors).

Everyone was as nice as could be, from the doorwoman, Bethany, to our bellman, Brandon, not to mention the folks at the front desk whose names I can't remember, plus the staff I met in th halways.(if the management is reading this, given them all a raise!). We used the valet parking, which was a little expensive for me (24$ per night) but they couldn't have been nicer about giving you other potential options. We ended up doing the valet parking, and it was worth it....our car always arrived right when we needed it, and once again, folks were as nice as they could possibly be.

We didn't eat at Gracie's at the dining room, but we did have room service (nothing fancy, just sanwiches, but fancy is available) after a tough hike and it was sooooo worth it.

The hotel is a short walk to the interesting stuff in downtown, but we made it easily to Powells and such.

I'll just say again, everyone was very nice and helpful. It was a wonderful experience, and my only concern about writing this review is that they might feel the need to raise the prices!
