A charming boutique hotel with very friendly staff in a great location. We did not have a pet with us but were not bothered by the hotel's pet friendly policy.

My room looked exactly like the one on their website: king size bed, 40 inch LCD, desk, and two windows looking out to downtown. I recommend this hotel because it is clean, the service was pretty good, and the location is great.

I got a King room for $90 night off Hotels.com. I would recommend looking there for cheap rates. The location is in downtown Portland. A few blocks away from everything (food, shops, transportation, sights). Plus, free Wi-fi. Good place to stay.

Dear lil_dunn -

Thank you very kindly for your recent review of our hotel! We strive to make every guest experience exceptional and positively memorable. Your hint about hotels.com is also a good suggestion - another inside tip for travelers to our hotel, when you visit our website, select the 'packages & promotions' menu for other special offers and rates that match those found on hotels or Expedia.com as well. Or call the hotel and ask one of our friendly reservation staff to match this rate - we always can do this. Hopefully this has helped you and other TripAdvisor travelers wen planning their travel experience to Portland.

With many thanks again for your comments,

We booked through Priceline and weren't made aware until we arrived that it was a "pet friendly" hotel - which would be fine it was clean but it was FILTHY! The carpets were horribly stained, there were no fitted sheets on the bed leaving the dirty mattresses completely exposed, mold on the shower curtain, broken tiles in the bathroom, our sink was cracked all the way down the middle, the port-a-crib was filthy.. I could go on and on. The hallways were filled with cigar smoke, our room set our allergies into high-gear due to pet dander... it was awful. The only explanation I was given by the front desk was that the hotel was "set to be renovated soon." Great. So basically they had stopped cleaning, fixing, caring for the hotel in any way, shape, or form because it was due for renovations.

I was able to get half our room cost refunded through priceline which I didn't feel was enough to make up for the horrible stay we had and how filthy the room was - especially consider we were traveling with a 5 month old baby - it was just unacceptable.

Unfortunately due to Priceline’s booking model, the hotel you are confirmed at is not revealed until after you confirm your credit card information – this is a Priceline standard, and unfortunately not the hotels. Therefore if a guest was looking for a room that was not “pet friendly” – Priceline is a difficult channel to reserve through since there are a variety of hotels with varying amenities and offerings made available.

The hotel has now been fully renovated, and while your particular experience seems unusual in that the standards of the room were not how the hotel typically displays itself, the problems you experienced have been resolved as a result of the renovation . I apologize if we did not offer to move you to an alternate room.

I apologize for the inconsistencies you experienced. We will investigate this with the employees who were on duty.

Please feel free to contact the hotel should you have additional questions.

Jeri

My husband and I stayed here for two nights for a weekend getaway with some friends. The hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating however the entire lobby was under construction. There was not anywhere to sit let alone relax over the sounds of drills and the smell of paint. There were tarps everywhere as well as wet paint signs on almost every wall of the lobby. This was not what we were expecting, it would have been nice if there had been some notice of the construction prior to our booking this hotel, we woke up early on Sunday morning to what sounded like jack hammers. That being said our room was nice and I'm sure once the construction is finished the hotel will be beautiful. It is also centrally located to all of the fun things to do in Portland...great restaurants and bars. However I would wait a while before I stayed here due to the construction.

My wife and I, in a previous mini-getaway, stayed in the Starlight room which was awesome and romantic with the rain pouring down all day on the big angled windows. This time we stayed in a garden spa room, specifically room 910 based on a tip. It WAS INCREDIBLE!

The room itself was amazing, cozy, luxurious, wonderful. And the rooftop hot tub definately provided the best city view I have ever had, almost surreal. It is amazingly cool to be sitting in a hot tub looking up at the stars (yes it was clear) and the beautiful Portland skyline. The Fox tower looks great at night. The deck is very private and the whole experience was just so unique I can't begin to truly do it justice. This truly is the coolest room in Portland.

With Pazzo attached (do yourself a favor and go have a flaming Joffre made by Jeffrey the bartender, OK it may lso be called a Grand Coffee), Stumptown coffee and Kenny and Zukes Deli a walk away there are many diverse options for food and drink. And from Macy's and Pioneer Place mall to Janes Vanity there is a whole lot of shopping to be done as well.

The staff at Vintage Plaza has always been amazing and personal in every interaction. The animal print robes are a nice touch too... we will, of course, be back to room 910 soon.
