The hotel was clean and quiet. Kimpton is my favorite loyalty chain these days because of their small benefits like $10 credit to use minibar and every day free wine happy hour in the evening. On top of that, it was easy to access the running trail around the river (which they give you a map with some running routes if you ask), it was less than 5 minutes away.

my husband and I went for a weekend and the hotel was great. from the car hop outside, the front desk, everyone was helpful and smiling. We got a garden spa room, although the room its self was a little smaller then we figured it would be, the balcony with hot tub made up for it. we had a very quiet and relaxing weekend. also its location is in the middle of everything, you can walk to almost anything you want to go do

Went here for a romantic birthday night with my boyfriend. I was greeted with a bottle of birthday wine and chocolates. Comfortable and scrupulously clean. Elegant. With top-notch and very human service. I cannot emphasize how fantastic the service was enough.
I loved this place and will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Spa suites have an amazing two person jacuzzi tub

I am a big fan of Kimpton hotels and decided to include this hotel on the two week rail journey my friend and I made in a circuit from Arizona to California, to the Northwest, to Chicago, and back to my home in Flagstaff. As usual, I was not disappointed. The room was very attractive and comfortable. The only criticism I have of the room is rather dim lighting in the shower. Otherwise, the bathroom was large and spacious. I have also commented to Kimpton that we were in a bit of a jam in needing to do laundry. The nearest laundromat was several blocks away - not convenient. On the weekend, I am not sure if sending out laundry was even available, something that I do not care to pay for anyway. So, we did it the old fashioned way, festooning the room with damp laundry done in the bathtub! I realize that big city hotels usually do not have washing machines available for guests, but have suggested to Kimpton that this is an idea they may want to consider.
We ate a total of three meals in the hotel restaurant. A couple who are friends of mine came from their home in suburban Portland to join us for dinner and they knew of this restaurant and wanted very much to eat there. It was a fine evening.

Dear EAZELIFF;
I am thrilled that you shared your "fan status for all of Kimpton".
Your trip for two weeks is one that I want to take! What a great journey! I may want to ride my Harley vs. the rails, but you crossed some of the most beautiful land in the country! I loved your review of your stay with your friend, the fact that our locals LOVE PAZZO was a definate win!
Our team and chef Eisenhart are Iconic in Portland and from this restaurant many other popular chefs and restaurants have begun, with their roots right here!

I took note of your only criticism I have of the room is rather dim lighting in the shower and the convenience of an on site laundry option may be worth looking into.
Again, thank you for sharing your story, our chapter and opening up for other travelers to evaluate when traveling to Portland. Happy trails, Sandy Burkett, GM

The rooms were spotless and comfortable and the staff were all friendly and professional. I didn't want to leave!

You can't beat the location of this hotel as it is central to shopping, downtown, and transportation. It is within walking distance of many attractions and the streetcar and MAX. The rooms are nice and spacious, and the décor is very classy without being "stuffy". There may or may not be a view from some of the rooms. Lots of cool amenities such as a "wine hour", bicycles to borrow, a yoga mat in every room, etc. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and courteous. The connected restaurant, Pazzo's, is GREAT! Relative to other hotels in the area, I think this is a good value. Definitely would stay here again.

We spend several weekends in Portland a year and this was our first visit to the Hotel Vintage Plaza. It is a beautiful property near the downtown core. The service was excellent and our room was spacious and comfortable. Close to heart of downtown, there are many restaurants and shops within walking distance and the Pearl District is just a short walk or street car ride away. The only downside to our room was that although a suite, the only window was small and looked over the roof and unsightly courtyard area (not really even a courtyard) and the shower door handle begged to be tightened and repaired. Overall though, it is a great hotel and we would stay there again.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a room that has views of the city, NOT the roof.

Dear Milly6020;
I happily read your entire review. Loved that you would happily stay here again, considering that you spend several weekends in Portland a year!

Your review was thorough addressing all aspects of your experience here, from your guest room, location, near the downtown core and always my favorite partThe service was excellent". I appreciate online reviews they help future guests anticipate where they want to stay. The only frustration as the GM is that when I see that something in the room wasn't quite right, I wonder, did the guest tell the front desk? Which room were they in? Have we found the issue. So I will be testing all the shower door handles today, so that no future guest is inconvenienced! Thank you again, we do look forward to becoming your Portland home away from home. Until your next visit, enjoy the journey! Sandy Burkett, GM
