Ideal location, customer service was top notch and very friendly, and the rooms were super clean and comfortable!
It was our first time visiting the the hotel and we were on a 'crash the honeymoon' trip. The wine tasting in the lobby was a really neat idea and a good way to start our first evening in Portland. Almost the entire city is accessible from this central location. So many neat things within walking distance. The staff were very accommodating and had no problem making a bed for an extra guest.
Thanks to all at 'The Vintage' for helping make Portland one of our favorite cities in the US.

Room Tip: Was able to view 3 rooms and they all looked great.

Stayed one more time at the Vintage and one more time had a wonderful experience.
Staff always professional, always friendly and helpful.
This place is my home away from home.
I love people who know how to do their jobs. It's rare enough to be mentioned.
You can't go wrong with the Vintage. Portland is already a gift, so add a gift to that gift, stay there.

Room Tip: If this is your first stay in Portland, ask for a room overlooking Broadway Ave. The manager really...

our first visit to a Kimpton Hotel, and after reading the existing reviews we had a fairly high expectation
On arrival the bell hop "guys' were fantastic...especially Jordan...but throughout the 4 days each and every one was friendly, helpful and smiling...we liked that....however the reception staff were, in general the exact opposite, seemingly bored, tired, uninterested and couldn't even be bothered to look up when we walked past their desk to smile or say good evening...very surprising (and disappointing) for a relatively small hotel in a very competative market
we had a spa suite, on the 7th floor, and this was spacious, clean and well furnishd...however as mentioned in at least 1 other review the "free' internet service was not very reliable...we also got the message from the Marriott about there being too many people logged on and the signal was very low...i spent 30 minutes working with technical support trying to resolve the issue without success
the spa tub was average, low pressure and very loud ( runniung water noise came through the sink in the suite)...also our shower door was difficult to open and the handle kept falling off
I wrote to the hotel, about a week ago, regarding these issues and unfortunately did not receive any reply
we are going to be travelling to Portland every 3 months for the next 4 years and i very much doubt we will be returning to the Vintage Plaza ..........just not right for us

Great location, excellent customer service and comfy rooms! Loved the added touch of the evening wine reception for guests. This was our first time at the Hotel Vintage Plaza, we were in Portland for a Christmas shopping weekend. You can walk anywhere downtown from this central location. We stayed in a King guestroom on the 6th floor and got a great special online rate. Appreciated the special attention given by staff. After making our reservations online, we recieved an email asking if there was anything they could do to make our stay better, any special needs we may have. They accomodated our request for early check-in, adjoining rooms with our friends, and also to have a card table and four chairs in our room so we could play cards. Appreciated their efforts to accomodate our needs very much!

Been to Portland many times, but my first time in this hotel. LOVED it. Stayed in a Starlight room at the top floor and now cannot imagine staying anyplace else. The "garrett" windows and the automatic shades really make this a special place to stay. Grab one of these rooms if you stay here.

I love all of Kimpton's touches, from the wine hour with snacks to the coffee in the morning. Especially appreciate the enthusiasm that the employees have for the guests. I also love the snack box in the room always filled with out of the oridinary snacks.

This is now my home when I go to Portland

Room Tip: Get a Starlight Room!

Stayed for one night in a King guestroom on the sixth floor. Comfortable bed, nice blackout curtains. Very convenient and reasonably priced for a downtown portland hotel.

In general, Kimpton hotels are a boon for people traveling with their dogs. That's why I always debate between the Monaco and this one whenever I travel to Portland. As usual, the room was comfortable. And it was nice to have some treats waiting for us when we were finally able to get to our room. It's an old building, the floor creaked every time we walked around the room. I hope it wasn't audible to the people below us.

What brought my rating down to 3 were a couple of problems:
1. Check-in took a long time. My wife has a different last name so they would not let her check in before me. That was my oversight, the woman trying to check in could have been a stalker! When I arrived at the hotel, I waited in line for a very long time before one of the clerks decided to help me out.

2. We relied on the bellhop service to bring up our bags. After the long check-in process, we had to wait 40minutes before I decided to call the front desk. They said they would be up immediately. After another wait, I went down and retrieved the bags myself.

3. There is supposedly free internet for intouch members. But I was able to connect only for a few minutes. Both networks "Kimpton and kimPton" kept on showing a Marriott page (there's a Marriott across the street, looks like they share internet services) saying too many users were logged on.

Minor inconveniences, but they add up and put us in a frame of mind where other small things stick out, like the uncomfortable bathrobes (a kimpton-wide thing, do they use too much bleach and destroy the cotton?). In any case, we'll stick to the Monaco or other hotels from now on. Goodbye Vintage Plaza.

Room Tip: Some of the better rooms do not accept pets, so make sure you ask before you book.
