The good: a grand old hotel, well preserved and tastefully refurbished; good complimentary breakfast; attentive staff.
The bad: $27 for self-parking -- (just across 4th street you can park in the modern US Bancorp garage for a fraction of that price); the evening manager's reception consists mostly of pretzels/chips/hamster snacks; the wine has a bit of that vinegar/prune juice flavor.
The ugly: This part of downtown is apparently home to all the extras from every zombie movie ever made -- very sad. In every alley, alcove and doorway there are broken addicts, disabled and otherwise homeless people.More
