I love staying at Embassy Suites downtown Portland. It's a nice, clean hotel with great suites and great amenities. It's in a great downtown location, staff is friendly and willing to help in any way.

We like lots of downtown Portland hotels and restaurants, a great city to visit. And the Embassy Suites was a comfortable place to stay.
Our room was an actual suite, with a closed door between bedroom and living room (unlike other suites hotels where it's open space). The included breakfast was much better than the usual, including made to order omelets, quite a few hot foods and cut fresh fruit.
The service was also better than offered at most downtown hotels. I even called after check out, fearing I'd lost something important, and was called back with a report about a thorough housekeepers' search. My only disappointment: no free Wifi in the rooms, though I am a Hilton Honors member. You have to be a high level HH member to get what I expect to be an amenity.
Location is close to Portland's famed Saturday Market, Powell's Books and the Pearl District, not far from downtown center at Pacific Place.

Room Tip: get an actual suite

Thank you for the lovely review, Antoinette M! We appreciate you staying with us during your time in Portland, and for taking the time to write a review!

Given the historic bones of our century-old hotel, Wifi is a tough nut to crack! We're constantly working on new ways to get our Internet through our cement walls to our guests, but it comes at a huge price. $$$. We hope the ambiance of our property makes up for it's Wireless stubbornness! ;)

This hotel is located in a downtown Portland renovated building. We stayed here on the last day of vacation, just to recoup and catch a flight the next morning after running a couple of errands downtown.

The location was good, the staff was pleasant. The room was large and spacious, located on a corner with lots of windows. The bathroom was a little dated, with slow drains, but clean.

It is a couple of blocks off the Max, less convenient than some other downtown hotels, but on a quieter street.

The in house restaurant comes highly recommended, but we did not try it, opting for room service for dinner. Room service dinner was average. Easy walking to several restaurant options.

Excellent choice for business traveler to Portland.

this hotel and the staff are amazing!! So beautiful and rooms are great. Only draw back is the pool area and hot tub are filthy this is the 5th time I have stayed at the hotel and everything is great the breakfast and the cocktail reception are wonderful. Staff is excellent and went out of their way to recommend places to eat and where we could catch the train and bus. Again the only thing I have to say that is bad is the pool area they just need to have a day of deep cleaning...

I was in town for a business conference and stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is very clean, the staff is exceptional, and the rooms are nice. A surprise was the Portland Prime restaurant located in the lobby, good food and drinks at reasonable prices. Parking is free at the garage across the street if you stay at the hotel and they do offer a valet service. The one problem I have with this hotel is the location, downtown Portland is fine if you are there to party and don't mind being bothered by the endless amount of people on the streets asking you if you can spare some change or have a dollar to spare. If you have a family, stay inside at night or stay away from downtown all together. This hotel is great for business travelers, couples, and younger people who want to experience downtown.

The location and lobby of the hotel were very nice but the room furnishings are VERY outdated. The location ofthe evening reception and breakfast were in a very dungeonous setting. The room was kept up well but just very outdated with zero natural light. Not condusive at all to wanting to stay there very long. Pool/spa area suffered from the same problem. While mostly clean, very dingy, outdated looking with no natural light. Also, one of the two spas did not work. Beds were very comfortable, hotel staff did an excellent job in assisting us and making sure the rooms were clean every day. May think twice about staying here again

We prefer to stay here when we visit Portland. Our stay experience is always pleasant and the location can't be beat - close to Vodoo Donuts, Habibi (great Lebanese food), Powells Books, the Saturday Market, China Town, many interesting shops and restaurants. Nice, down pillows on the beds. Rooms can get very cool (which we like at night). Pool and complimentary breakfast are great for families (if the line at Vodoo is too long!). The many homeless people downtown are distressing (and kind of scary to our kids) but seeing them creates opportunities for talking about the roots of homelessness etc., and I suppose it's one of the reasons we bring our kids to the city. Love Portland, warts and all!
