“Again Great”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

I have stayed at this hotel many times. I think I stayed in room 625. The room was perect, clean and the bedding great as always. I had room service and it was fast. I have breakfast there, the woman (sorry I dont remember her name) that makes the omelets is great, a smile and fast service. I am a Honors Member so check in was about 2 minutes. the valet parkers are great.

Rabija will be so pleased to know you enjoyed her service! She's our omelet star around these parts. :)

Hope to see you again soon.

Spent 3 nights there for visiting family and friends....beautiful 100 yr. old fancy hotel in a good section of town. Able to easily walk to shops, parks, riverfront, and restaurants. Chinatown area alittle rundown, but not scary, always felt safe, evenwalking home alone at night. Hotel staff all friendly helpful. If you appreciate classic quality, you will enjoy. Will be back.

I thought the high price was due to the location of the hotel (very close to saturday market area), but expected the rest of the hotel to be up-to-par with the price. The Lobby was beautiful, but the rooms lacked charm and you could tell it was an older hotel. Unconfortable couch/chairs and average bed. The social breakfast/happy hour area was bare and laked charm as well. It just wasn't what I expected, especially not for that price. Probably wouldn't return. (Although the staff was VERY friendly)

Thank you so much for your review, Stacy60056!

We're all very excited to have our rooms renovated starting in November! Hopefully you'll get a chance to tell us what you think when they're done.

We're also in the process of revamping our Comp Breakfast and Evening Reception. Was there anything specific that you think we could do better? We'd love your input!

Thanks again, Stacy!

Really a lovely hotel in downtown Portland. We spent two nights here and really enjoyed out stay for the most part.

Location is spot on - just off the light rail/tram, walking distance to so many things including bars and restaurants, the Saturday market, the river...VooDoo. Tram right is about 40 minutes to the airport, give or take, with no changes needed.

Check in was quick and friendly. My Diamond status was reflected, but didn't seem to bring any perks which was unusual. Maybe because we were on points? At 50k points per night, I'd still like something.

The hotel has an awesome feel to it - old but modern. They have kept a lot of the old hotel feeling to it, but it has everything you need. One example were the windows in the room - they kept the awesome, old wooden windows in tact, but went over them with the energy efficient modern storm windows. I loved that.

Comfort wise, the room was large, the bed was comfortable, the TVs were large and had plenty of channels, and the bathroom was of good size. Shower had good pressure.

Breakfast was good, but I didn't like the room. Definitely tucked away in the basement and far from enjoyable. I know they worked with the space they had, but it was dark and kind of depressing. The managers reception was in the same spot, but in the evenings I didn't mind it as much. The managers reception itself was nice, but understaffed as lines got LONG. Also, snacks seemed a step down from other Embassy Suites locations I have been to. Still nice for the price though ;)

One issue was that housekeeping never stopped by our room. We returned to our room a few times and kept thinking it would be cleaned by the next time we returned, but never was. By the time we realized they weren't going to clean it, we decided it wasn't worth calling as we were ready for bed. And the do not disturb sign was not on the door.

Thank you so much for your review, Zacharius!

I'm SO sorry to hear that you didn't receive any HHonors Perks in your room! Did you not get your Complimentary HHonors WiFi either? If your profile is set to receive waters, candy, fruit, etc, please ask at the desk if you don't find them in your room. You certainly deserve them!

Great feedback on our Comp Breakfast and Evening Reception! We're working on revamping as we speak, and the venue is definitely one of our biggest hurdles. We're working on it! :)

Thank you again! Hope to see you back soon.

Location: perfect! OK, we were actually looking for a hotel right off of Pioneer Square, just had a few days in Portland, so we wanted to be in the center of it all. But, this worked out better, just 2 (mathematical) blocks to the river, so a great spot for walking, running, reading, relaxing. The neighborhood at night is quite, "eclectic" Portland. So, suburbanites, you may not be able to handle it. We are from Chicago, the city, and it took us off guard at first; but this is Portland, where the motto is, "Keep Portland Weird!" Walked to Kells at night for a beer and hamburger (great). Day walk along the river to join in free Tai Chi (Sunday mornings, at Colombia), Pioneer Square, Powell Books, Chinatown, and other sites along the way)
Hotel is immaculate, our room (king bed suite) was huge, 2 huge flat screens, lobby beautiful with bar and restaurant. Every employee had that Portland warmth that is genuine and authentic. We did not take advantage of the manager’s happy hour, but the breakfast was outstanding. Egg white omelets with whatever your heart desires can be ordered, coffee outstanding.
All of this and the total, including tax was about $150 per night. You cannot beat that!
Internet was extra ($10 a day) and movies ($14.99). Stay here! We will next time as well!
(Oh, parking is hugely expensive. We took the Max from the airport to the stop, 1st and Oak, 2 block walk, $5)

Room Tip: We got the 8th floor....liked that, but not sure there is a bad room in the hotel!

You will not find a hotel for the price that has everything you need or want----beautiful interior, great valet service. The rooms are spacious and extremely well kept. The complimentary breakfast is fantastic as well as the "happy" hour in the Garden. Don't forget the pool and spa---relaxation at it's best. This hotel rocks---seriously.

If you want to feel pampered and in the center of downtown Portland, stay at the Embassy Suites. My daughter and I had a great time, and even spent an evening just luxuriating in the hotel amenities and the ultra comfortable beds. Each morning we had made to order, delicious egg-white omelets as part of the ample complimentary breakfast. This is truly a classy hotel with old world charm and a great staff!
