Great Great Hotel

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Nov 6, 2007
We spent two nights at the Embassy Suites and loved every minute. We booked a king room (not a suite) and it was perfect-----beautiful bed linens, wet bar, large bathroom with plenty of great towels and a very large closet. It was also very quiet. The breakfast, included in the room rate, was varied and very good.

The location of the hotel made many things within easy walking distance. We also used the hotel shuttle service for dinner one night in the Pearl District. All the staff were great----Brenda, the concierge, was fabulous.

This is a great hotel for location, great staff, ambiance, luxury and value.

Absolutely loved this hotel. My boyfriend and I stayed here on the last night of a week long trip. We had had just okay hotel experiences up to this point, and really wanted a good experience to finish the trip. I looked @ reviews of Portland hotels online and picked this one because it got the highest rating. I didnt want another mediocre experience. This hotel totally lived up to previous reviews. Service was excellent, location was excellent, rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable. The concierge was extremely knowledgable and helpful. The lobby is beautiful, and we, also, loved the piano player. I recommend the attached restaurant, especially for drinks at the bar (great happy hour food specials). I also highly recommend going to the Portland City Grill on the same block - on the 30th story, great views. We are very glad we stayed here. I truly believe this is the best hotel in Portland - ambiance, convience, location, and value.

The lobby is perhaps one of the best hotel lobbies I've ever seen. Stunning view right in the heart of downtown Portland. My room was huge, definitely not a normalcy for a city hotel. And it was perfectly clean. Room service was wicked fast.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites Portland Downtown for 3 nights (9/12-9/15/07). Our room was nice and spacious. The hotel is very grand and majestic. Everyone was very customer service oriented, especially Brenda the concierge. Brenda was very personable and helpful (she really knows her stuff). We also enjoyed Bill the pianist (entertains in the hotel lobby every Friday & Saturday). We sat and listened to him for a couple hours. He is great and a very nice person. Overall this hotel rates very high in our book.

Beautiful old Portland hotel. Lobby is elegant, staff are helpful and courteous. Location is very convenient, walking distance to many restaurants and to the light rail.

The best part of this hotel is the staff. They are always happy and turn-over must be low as I recognized a few from ealier in the year. By the end of my week stay here, the bell staff was able to identify me by name; I was especially impressed with Justin who deserves an award as he was both the first and last person I interacted with and he is a master of sutomer service!

The room was extremely large and very clean (despite being a smoking room). The curtains completely blocked all light and I heard no noise form other guests (I did hear mild noise while awake from the clubs on Friday night but nothing to keep me awake - there are rooms located on away from the street though if you are particularly sensitive to any noise).

The free breakfast was really great! A nice lady greated me every morning and there were omlettes made to order - what more could you want? The reception was also nice in the evenings.

The only complaint that I had was that the tub didn't drain water as fast as my shower was pumping it out - but I am sure the maids disliked it more (leaving soap scum ring on the tub).

Definately suggest staying here if visiting downtown Portland!
