“Hotel Modera”
Reviewed May 14, 2014

This was a fine hotel with a great location in downtown Portland. They seem to have actually thought about guest's comfort and the look was sleek and clean. A nice place to come back to after a busy day. It suggests comfort without high maintenance on the part of guests.

We visited Portland on Mothers Day weekend to see the Blazers play and enjoy a relaxing time with my wife on her day. Jonny, concierge, was extremely helpful in giving directions to the game, spots to see around town and a very good recommendation for dinner at Raven and Rose. It was outstanding. Also enjoyed a late dessert at the hotel, cheesecake on the terrace, by the fire with other guests who seemed to enjoy the property as much we we did. What a clean, friendly city and a wonderful hotel to spend our time while visiting. Not one single employee failed in greeting or thanking us for being guests.
Amazing service!!!

This was a quick overnight get away for my husband's bday. Front desk was very friendly and hopeful, room was small, but for the money a great deal. Clean and comfy. The room as a bit noisy with the window opened, so we closed it. Location was fine for getting around.

And we enjoyed the bar, and had brunch in the morning which was tasty and would for sure return....very nice.

This is a nice hotel in a good location, especially for PSU families. The restaurant is good, the staff is friendly. But this is my second stay here. Both visits were when the weather in Portland was in the 70s or 80s. The room never cooled off. The staff always had the same excuse--"there's something wrong today. Best to turn the system off." After two nights, it was obvious that the "AC" was nothing more than a fan blowing in outside air. The hallways were cooler as was the lobby. Obviously, the owners are banking on PDX weather for cooling. I felt really ripped off.

HBOnPablo,

Thank you for the repeat business! I am pleased you found our proximity to PSU to be favorable. There is no other four star hotel that is closer to Portland State. I’m also happy to hear that both of your visits to Portland were during times of beautiful and warm weather! We don’t have many this time of year, but we appreciate all the warm weather and sunshine we receive!

I adore Hotel Modera and its smart, stylish, charming, friendly staff. I've stayed there three times in the past two years and would rate it tops of my list anywhere. The rooms are mid-20th century modern with lovely amenities like a fabulous faux fur bed throw, good for cool rainy nights in Portland. The Nel Centro restaurant is wonderful with delicious meals any time of day and a terrific patio for dining under the stars or just a late night rendez vous. On a long weekend in Portland, we ate at some of the city's top restaurants and Nel Centro held its own perfectly. (But don't miss St. Jack in NW Portland!) Location is wonderful too, convenient for walking to the Portland Art Museum, taking bus or trolley to Pearl District, or catching a TriMax to the airport.

I stay at Hotel Modera every time I visit Portland and have found it to be consistently enjoyable and comfortable. I especially love the restaurant and the friendly and professional environment and the location is very good for walking around and exploring the city and also for easy access to the major highways in and out of the city.

Great service, super clean rooms, one of the best night's sleep I have had in years and a very knowledgeable and friendly concierge in Jonny. A 12 minute walk from Burnside but far enough away to not be in the thick of it all. Outdoor fire pits are a nice touch.
