Norma's is a small owne-=operated place with a big heart and total authenticity- genuine Southern hospitality on Jantzen Beach in Portland. The fried chicken is good, the gumbo, the shredded pork, the catfish, the cornbread, etc. etc. I've always found it hard to decide between the menu offerings. Norma is lovely and the gentleman greeter/waiter is smiling and upbeat. I especially enjoy the bird feeders suspended from fishing poles in spring and summer by the waterside window. View the boats going by on Columbia Channel and those moored at Columbia Crossings. For good weather, there is a small outdoor seating area with overhead space heater where one can enjoy dining with one's dog(s). If you are not familiar with this area (Jantzen Beach), be aware that after eating, you can drive east all the way to the end of the road (Tomahawk Drive), then walk down to the beach to exercise yourself and your dog(s).
