Description: Fusing a distinct Northwest and classic Scottish Pub feel, this Pearl District destination has become a convivial gathering spot of beer and food lovers since its 2008 opening. The brew pub's 18 taps feature Deschutes mainstays plus a selection of seasonal and experimental beers developed and brewed on site exclusively for the Portland pub by brewer Ben Kehs. Executive Chef Jill Ramseier heads the kitchen team, crafting classic pub food taken to the next level. Jill matches our brewer's passion, creating dishes from scratch with the best possible local ingredients.

“A lively place for beer and food in downtown Portland”
Reviewed August 25, 2011

Really enjoyed the variety of beer (all brewed locally) and the food here. The service staff also made the visits enjoyable. My wife and I enjoyed it so much, we went back 3 times during our short vacation in Portland. Nice atmosphere inside, can get a little noisy when the place is full, but that is part of the charm. Restaurant is very close to mass transit stops.

“Great Beer, Great Atmosphere”
Reviewed August 24, 2011

While we didn't actually have a full meal here, we did visit the bar a couple of times and sampled not only their brew but also some small plates to nibble on. On both occasions, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed and casual. We both ordered a couple of different kinds of sausage to have with our beers which were very tasty indeed. From what I could see of the main meals coming out of the kitchen, the servings looked huge and very inviting. The beer sampler they offer is a great idea too, lets you sample a few varieties.

“Try Another Restuarant”
Reviewed August 23, 2011

When we arrived in the Pearl District mid afternoon, we stopped for a sandwhich at Deschutes Brewery. The restuarant and outdoor seating looked welcoming and the menu offered just what we were looking for - nothing exotic, just a burger and fries. The burger was very over priced and overcooked. And, the meat did not taste very good to me. Plus, the bun was so huge that I ate only 1 side of it and ate my burger with a fork. The fries were not hot and they did not taste very good. The atmosphere was light, open, and airy - very nice for a casual meal. And, our waiter was upbeat and fun. I had a good ice tea, though I realize that this is not what most people have in mind for a drink when they go to brewery! I would not return to this resturant again and given the fact that there are so many good resturants in Portland, I would suggest another location for lunch.

“Great beer and mediocre food.”
Reviewed August 13, 2011

This restaurant features a wonderful selection of craft beer, and a mediocre selection of pub food. Don't bother eating here, the selection is marginally better than fast food.

“really nice brewery and great food”
Reviewed August 12, 2011

Lots of good food and beer choices and they were both really tasty. The building that the brewery is in is pretty cool, very big and kind of a modern/rustic feel to it.
