“Great espresso drinks, even better soups”
Reviewed August 25, 2011

We go here for lunch nearly once a week. We never know what the soup will be and the types change regularly - but they're always fresh and delicious, and when they run out, that's it for the day. Lattes are consistently some of the best in Portland. Get a small or medium latte "for here" and you'll get a pretty design on top.

“You'll feel like you stepped into a caffe in Italy, really”
Reviewed April 8, 2008

We go here at least once a week - usually both Saturday and Sunday - for a light lunch and glass of wine.

The coffee drinks are great and the latte art is outstanding. But the real star of this place is the food. The piadina con brie and panino with grilled vegetables are spectacular. The mozzarella tart with sundried tomatoes can't be topped. And, the pasta tastes like you imagine your Italian grandmother would make it if you had an Italian grandmother.

It can be a bit confusing since you don't queu up like you do at Starbucks. You kind of wander up to one of the cash registers and place your order after you've searched out what you want. It's more of a homey relaxing atmosphere rather than a speedy in and out kind of place.

The offerings are somewhat varied from day to day. Sometimes you will arrive and your first choice will be sold out. Don't worry, as we haven't run across anything that isn't top notch.

The desserts are also great. A nutella and marscapone cheese filled croissant for example! Butter cookies! Biscotti! Tarts!

If you are trying to learn Italian it's a great place to visit as you will hear Italian as much as English.
