As one review is titled, this is a no frills hotel but is really a good one. Just about 2-3 miles away from the airport but trust me it is not along the flight path that you do not hear aircrafts taking off or touching down. While I always get a rental car, they have free shuttle to and from the airport. So, if you do not have a car and would like to go to the city, you can probably get a shuttle to the airport and take the tram from the airport to the city.

I do not know if It was pure luck that I got a clean room unlike what the reviewer from Temecula, CA got but he/she mentioned he/she wanted to move to the Hampton Inn across. There is no Hampton Inn nearby, he/she probably stayed in another hotel.

For Hispanics, this might be a good one. I am not but my name is. To make me feel at home one lady at the front desk talked to me in Spanish. I had to leave at 4:00 a.m. for my 6:00 a.m. flight but even that early some of the free breakfast items were available.

We stayed for 1 night at the Fairfield Inn. They provided helpful suggestions for dinner, made a reservations for us and provided accurate directions. We had a delightful dinner at Salty's as a result. The staff were friendly and greeted us each time we went through the lobby. Our room was comfortable and the beds were soft and welcoming. The heater/air conditioner is a bit noisy--our only complaint. Breakfast is a continental buffet with typical choices. The WiFi connection worked fast!

Stayed here for one night while traveling on business. Everything about this hotel was terrific for the class hotel it is in. They must have recently updated this fairfield because it was beautiful...great entryway and check-in..very friendly staff..very nicely decorated. I cant think of a single thing about this property that was not above my expectation for a Fairfield. The location is O.K...not a lot around there..decent little local "sports bar" within easy walking distance.

Great Job!

I travel about 110 days a year and frequently stay in Fairfield Inns and Hampton Inns. This was one of the lesser Fairfields I have stayed in. While very clean, the room was very basic and outdated. It looked more like a Motel 6 than a Marriott product. Most disappointing was the bed. It was very thin and had a sorry excuse for a comforter. The comforter looked like it was 10 years old and all the stuffing was mushed into nothing. There were black marks on the sheets and pillows.

If you just need to stay a night before you fly out, then it's fine. I actually tried to check out after the first night and go to the Hampton across the street, but the Hampton was booked.

I just expect a lot more from a room that cost $114 a night. I would not stay again.

Stayed there for 3 nights in Mar 08. It's a pretty standard Fairfield Inn, which is the low-frill hotels from Marriott. The property is very convenient to the airport, with lots of other hotels around it.

The place was clean, the staff was very good. Breakfast buffet is simple but it's standard fare for a Fairfield Inn.

All in all an acceptable place to stay.

The Fairfield Inn at the Portland Airport is literally a four minute drive from the main terminal, and three minutes from the rental cars. Even though it's this close, airport noise was not a problem. The area is an easy on-off from the Interstate with a number of similar class hotels around (see photo).

I got there late on a business trip (after midnight), and left the following day. The staff was very professional and friendly, everything was as expected. The breakfast was the usual, and the lobby has a small counter with all the typical sundries. I had forgotten a toothbrush, and the hotel provided that and toothpaste free of charge.

The room was clean, with the exception of the white sheet of the first of the double doubles I tried -- the white sheet had a mascara smudge (or something like that) at the top. So, I slept in the other bed -- I hate that "turned down" look that hotels affect these days (see the photo of the room). The rest of the room was clean and without any issues. I particularly liked that the hotel has a stiff no-smoking policy -- not a hint of smoke anywhere. From what I remember, the cleaning fee they charge for a smoked-in room is a couple of hundred dollars.

Bathroom was as expected, in short, everything spoke reasonably new, well kept Fairfield. I would stay there again, especially if I came in late in the day, didn't want to drive all over the place, and needed a decent place to crash. Worth it.

I spent several nights in July at this hotel near the Portland, Oregon Airport and found it clean, comfortable and convenient. The staff were all pleasant and made the stay especially nice. This was my first time to stay at this hotel in Portland and I liked it so much that I will most likely stay there on future trips to the area.
The beds were comfortable and clean and bathroom was always clean. The shower worked very well and plenty of room in bathroom. Soaps, shampoo and conditioner that were in the rooms were adequate.
There is a computer in the lobby for guests to use as well as a printer. There is no charge to the guest. It was always working and I could usually use it even though it was popular among the guests as I saw it being used a lot.
The complimentary continental breakfast is more than adequate and a cut above most of the continental breakfast offerings of hotels/motels. The breakfast area can be a little tight if there are a lot of guests staying at the hotel. It really is not a tiny area, but it can get crowded if a lot of guests are there.
The van driver that took me to airport in the hotel van was especially nice. This van is also used to pick up guests staying across the street at the Courtyard and the driver effortlessly collected us all with a smile and he was prompt; No delays.
All in all a most pleasant experience at this hotel.

  • Liked — Wonderful staff, especially front desk and van driver; clean, comfortable, accessible computer/printer, warm, fresh baked cookies at front desk in late afternoon
