“Poor Physical Plant, Good otherwise”

so our room had a messed up sink - and they had no maintenance at 4:30 to fix it. But they moved us - so it worked out ok. Also, dust webs in room. It's an older hotel...and they need to do things such as fix those really thin mattresses - and add thicker/fuller comforters. Also, if you are more than one in the room, the bathroom counter won't work - it's way way way too small.

On the plus side - I took the airport shuttle several times and you never waited more than 5 minutes...that's amazing. The gym and breakfast were both good too.

You can stay here and tax the Max city train with their airport shuttle - so you could save some $$.

All in all, a decent place.

One of our conference hotels for my football officials and the best that we stay at for friendliness and quality for a reasonable price. From Nick the General Manager to Robin at the front desk and Larry their shuttle driver they are the best. Friendly and positive. We were there for our summer conference and had a large number of our football officials staying there. Service at breakfast was excellent and they are now serving hot items. Spouses were able to take van to airport and then light rail downtown. This is an excellent hotel.

Room Tip: Third floor

Quiet and clean; three story property. Microwave, fridge, hair dryer. We (3 of us) left too early for a fuller breakfast, but there were muffins and juice available around 3 a.m. Airport shuttle is available. Small outdoor pool; flat screen TV, alarm clock and desk. Small chair in the corner with light. I will definitely stay here again, as the only noise I ever heard was an airplane landing around 2 a.m. (I'm a light sleeper when I travel).

We've stayed here before, but never written about it. The legendary Marriott friendliness is something I expect out of any place with that sign over the door, but here they take it up a notch. We were allowed early check-in, a valuable time to freshen up from a cross-country plane ride, and the room was made up nicely, with the extra pillows we always request. There was an abundance of bath towels, and the bathroom is a nice size, with a non-slip surface on the bottom of the tub. The breakfast room was always being carefully attended to, tables were cleaned promptly, and items on the bar refreshed. They used an induction cooker to keep hot foods hot, and it worked like a charm. The scrambled eggs were nice and fluffy, some places make them quite rubbery. Marionberry syrup for the waffle was an Oregon touch that did not go unnoticed.

The only thing that was strange was that the elevator made some sort of sound when it stopped for the top floor (never on the way down), but it never jerked or lurched. The sound deadening here is astounding, you can look out your window to see aircraft landing at PDX, close enough to make out individual windows on the fuselage, but never hear the engines.

We're staying again at the end of this week, and I'm glad about that!

Room Tip: No bad rooms here. Even being close to that elevator, we never heard a thing out of any of the rest...

I had some business in the Portland area in June 2013. Since I live in Seattle, I decided to drive for this stay instead of fly. If you were to fly, this property offers a free shuttle to and from the Portland airport, and from what I understand they offer park and fly for those who may have to use that service. Parking wasn't a problem for us; there was plenty of free parking. The staff was friendly (the morning staff especially more engaging than the night staff from what I encountered, but everone was nice). I did wish that they had an indoor pool, but when I arrived I realized their pool and hot tub was an outdoor pool (and unfortunately for us was still closed for the season). They have a free breakfast as all Fairfield Inns do, but since they are so close to the airport, this property puts our simple muffins and juice as early as 3 or 4 am for those who have early flights ... which is a nice touch (but we didn't need that service). In summary, it's what you would expect from a Fairfield Inn. If this isn't your cup of tea, there are so many hotels available to you along Airport Way in Portland that you are sure to find one that suits you best. Just do your homework online before you book. Be safe out there fellow travelers.

Sometimes, when on a business trip, you don't have much of a choice of where to stay. This hotel would not be my first choice when having to stay near the airport in Portland. I've been to several Fairfield Inns - they cover the lower end, no frills niche, in the marriott chain, so i don't expect much - but this place didn't live up to the standard of the others. It feels more like a Super 8 or Comfort Inn. Maybe it was just rebranded? Overall everything feels a bit dated. The room was clean, except for a long hair on the bathroom floor. If you're just looking for a locker to spend the night in, this does the job. But there are so many other choices out there in a similar budget range, if you have the choice, do yourself a favor and go for something different.

The title says it all. OK - but sure don't go out of your way to stay here. We got here in the evening - check in was easy. The people at the front desk were pleasant enough but nothing special. Room - same, amenities - the same. Check out - easy.
