“Quick stop over”

We stayed here on a layover, arriving late at night and leaving very early in the morning. This felt like a new hotel; the room and bathroom were very clean; the staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. They made sure we got a wake up call and it was on time. They served a very early continental breakfast which was mainly carbs, but was OK. The price was definitely right for this nice quick six hour over-nighter! I recommend it.

We stayed there for one night and that was enough. Our room was located by the elevator and the whole room shook when ever the elevator was in use!! Our beds vibrated all night long! Then imagine if you were in a tent by the freeway?? Even though the road out front was not a freeway the traffic screaming by all night long you would have thought the speed limit was 65mph! And they have the nerve to charge $90 for this? Please. I was so tempted to go to the front desk and tear a strip of their -- for having the nerve to even put us in such a room. Surprisingly enough the noise from the airport was a negligent due to the fact the room vibration and the screaming traffic buzzing by. No matter how tired you are. Having a room that vibrates every time someone uses the elevator and the roar of cars screaming down a road that is in fact not a freeway you will not get any sleep. Oh and when we entered our room our pillow covers looked like they had been crumbled into a ball for weeks looked like California raisins. And the clothes rack to hang your clothes on was hanging by one screw. Good times.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Enhanced continental breakfast was great! Hotel rooms/lobby areas were kept very clean. I loved that they provided newspapers daily (Oregonian and USA Today). They also had continental breakfast from 3:00 am for those who were departing early...and coffee/tea all day! Price was reasonable...senior citizen rate!

We spent one night at the Fairfield which offered up to 10 days free parking in their park & fly package. We decided to stay there because the reviews were very good even though it was one of the cheaper places to stay (we spent under $90.00). Though this might be considered a "basic" hotel room, I thought it was attractive and VERY clean! Muffins, fruit, coffee and yogert was laid out for those taking off early (we left at 4:30 am). Shuttle service was prompt both ways. We will definitely stay there again before we leave on another vacation.

This humbler member of the Marriott family feels fresh and clean, nothing luxurious but everything works. The single elevator is a little snug, but everything else was adequate. Free internet, free parking, free breakfast add $60 to the value over a downtown address, so if you can't snag a four-star downtown Portland on Priceline for under $100, then book into the Fairfield for $100 and enjoy your extra $60 you'd pay downtown on a great dinner for 2 at Andinos or Persia House!
