“Cheap and central, but moldy and loud”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

The major advantage to this hotel was a cheap price for a relatively central location in downtown Portland, with fairly easy access to the light rail to the airport and a walkable distance to Pioneer Square. It was also relatively clean. That said, it was impossible to overlook the strong smell of mold (the whole room just felt damp), and the thin walls through which the sound of loud hotel guests woke us at 3:00am. Wouldn't stay here again if I had the choice.

My wife and I recently spent three nights at the Inn (not the Suites). It's an austere property: No frig. No coffee pot. No microwave. No carpet. And so forth. It's a basic place to sleep.

However, the housekeeping staff did a terrific job. The place was spotless. The lack of carpet is one of the reasons I felt that way. The laminate flooring just seemed really clean, and so did the bathroom. (The lack of carpeting also made the place somewhat noisy when the upstairs neighbors came home late at night.)

All the other facts are correct. The price is right, and the location is terrific. We'll be back.

Stayed at the hotel with my family. The location is excellent if you're here to explore the city - the park, downtown within short walking distance. Excellent high end supermarket (Zupans) close by, another large supermarket even closer and Trader Joe's about 10 mins walk. Many shops, cafes and restaurants within walling distance.
Room is pretty basic. TV sucks (only basic channels). Cleaning service mediocre (if you happen to be in the room you can tell them what needs to be cleaned, otherwise it is quite random). One washing machine (30 mins - not amazing) and dryer at the basement. Reception people really nice and helpful. Finally parking - there are 3 lots. Most times had no issue finding parking but one night arrived late (1AM) and had to park a few blocks away in a 1 hr parking so had to wake up early to move car.
No gym, no restaurant, no pool at the hotel.

Tried to find the best cheap hotel in Portland for a quick trip. I had never been before and didn't know the area at all. We completely lucked out and ended up in the greatest neighbourhood. There were tons of cute restaurants and quirky shops in the Nob Hill area which was about a block away from the hotel. The room was cute. The beds were comfortable. Free parking and free wifi. I'll definitely be staying there the next time I am back in Portland (which will be sooner rather than later).

Located in a residential area close to upscale shopping and restaurants. This recently remodeled old style motel is just the place to stay when visiting the Interanational Test Rose Garden. Remodeling evident in the smallish rooms with all that is needed for a restful night. Excellent, knowledgeable staff and very good coffee.

I have stayed here twice now and loved it both times, primarily for the location and price. You get a living room, nicely furnished kitchen, large bath and a smallish bedroom (but with a very comfortable bed) all for around $125 per night. The hotel is within walking distance of 2 Starbucks, a nice deli and grocery store and the vibrant "Alphabet district", which has dozens of great restaurants and Washington Park. It is also very close to the Max, Portland's light rail transit. From the airport to the hotel is about a 35 minute ride. it is also a fairly easy walk to downtown, so you don't really need a car. Although the furnishings are slightly dated, everything is comfortable and clean.

It was a good place to stay, reasonable price, good location, free parking, close to restaurants and shops. It's about a three block walk to the Max or less than a block to major bus routes. Note that the walk from downtown takes about 20 minutes, up an incline, which gets steeper the closer you get to the hotel. About a five minute drive to Washington park, where the rose gardens and zoo are located.

The room was fine, although I wish we had a fridge. We'd stay again.
