“As always, a wonderful stay at the Monaco.”
Reviewed November 21, 2010

We've stayed at Kimpton hotels in Washington D.C., Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco. The Hotel Monaco in Portland is a truly outstanding property. We arrived early for check-in and the desk staff informed us that we had a room upgrade but the room was not yet ready. She told us that they would put a rush on getting the room ready and had our luggage stored until we returned. We are Kimtpon In Touch members and when we returned the room was ready and a complimentary bottle of wine was left for us as well as a welcoming letter from the hotel manager. We felt as if were were not just customers but were truly appreciated guests. The hotel has an evening wine reception and is centrally located to Portland's Tri-Met and bus lines. Not only would we recommend this hotel to friends and coworkers, we already have.

The Hotel Monaco offeres a romance package. I called the concierge and said that it was not their romance package, but mine. Every detail of what I wanted was executed without fail. From my choice of champgne, chocolates, the color of the rose to what time to deliver breakfast. It was absolutely perfect.

The staff was like family...so interested in my son's wedding event
The room was airy and bright with tall ceilings and a wonderful city view
The location is great for walking or catching a cab or Max light rail
The buildings history is facinating and the building itself is gorgeous

We reserved a room at the Hotel Monaco, mostly because it was close to Portland State and accepted dogs. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to discover an elegant, high-end hotel about two blocks from Pioneer Square; thus close to everything and on the MAX line. The bellstaff promptly directed us to an underground garage (out from under the rain) where we were met by a valet who helped us unload the car. Check-in was fast, the registrars friendly and helpful. We then went to our room, which was spacious and beautifully appointed with a huge window overlooking SW Washington Street. Gift baskets and comfy dog beds awaited our two Golden Doodles and the fridge was fully stocked. After a great night's sleep (It's quiet for a downtown hotel), we enjoyed an early morning walk around the area, which is filled with coffee shops and tree-lined streets. Breakfast was hot and delivered right on time. I called for our car and it was waiting for us when we arrived at the garage.
This is a great hotel in a terrific location and as dog-friendly as it gets. The rates were lower than expected for a high-end hotel, the amenities better than expected, and the staff makes everything easy and pleasant. If you have dogs, don't bother shopping around. Just book the Hotel Monaco.

Thanks so much for recommending our hotel as being the very best to bring your pets. I am so glad to hear that your Golden Doodles enjoyed their visit. As a Golden Doodle owner I I know how much they like to be pampered! We can’t wait to see you and the doodles again very soon.

Like any Hotel Monaco this one was great.
Not the best at housekeeping (junk under our coffee table, unmade room at 5:00pm)

I do believe our housekeeping staff is the best in the biz that is why I am so disappointed that you found items under the desk and your room was not serviced until late in the day. I will share your review with our Executive Housekeeper and we will fix these issues. Thank you for bring them to our attention.

We had a great time at this wonderful hotel. Took our labrador (1st time ever) and didn't know what to expect, although we're dog lovers we were concerned about cleanliness, not a problem here, the hotel is immaculate. The hotel and Portland were very dog friendly. It is located within walking distance to everything, shopping, the Pearl Dist., great restaurants, etc., as well as a nice park just a few blocks away for the dog. Enjoyed their complimentary happy hour in the lobby with wine or beer and snacks, met many nice people, a few with their dogs as well. The entire staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

Hotel Monaco is in a great location! There are many food carts, restaurants, and shopping within walking distance. This year we decided not to rent a car to bypass paying for parking fees (parking fees are at many of the hotels). We even walked to the pearl district. For those who dont want to walk you can use the max. The max is about a block away from the hotel depending on where you want to go. We rode the max from the airport to the hotel which took about 40 min. The cost was only $2.10 a person. All the staff was friendly and always greeted you. The rooms are clean, but on the small side. We didnt mind since we dont spend much time in our room. The beds were comfortable. Complimentary tea, coffee and newspapers in the morning. At night time was complimentary beer and wine in the lounge area. You could also play Wii and they had a small easel were you could paint for fun. We definitely will come back.
