1st time at this hotel. I stay in a hotel several nights a week. From the moment I entered the hotel , room service, front desk, valet, and front door man they were incredible. Decor and rooms were a treat. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Great rooms and staff are all accommodating

Before it became the Hotel Monaco, it was the Fifth Avenue Suites, where I stayed often when in Portland. This was my first time at the Hotel Monaco, and I will be sure to go there again. The staff was pleasant and helpful, the room was clean, and the adjoining restaurant, the Red Star Tavern, was top notch. From 5-6 p.m. they have a wine tasting in the lobby (well attended), and the night I was there they had a gypsy jazz duo--violin and guitar. Great stuff! Another reason to stay at the hotel is the easy in/easy out/can't miss the entrance parking under the hotel. The hotel is easy to locate off the freeway, too. I plan on staying there again when I'm in Portland.

I come to Portland about once a month for work and over the last year I've been trying all of the hotels that Portland has to offer.

Recently I stayed at Hotel Monaco in Portland for the first time. It's a beautiful hotel that has had a wonderful update with rich materials, great prints and patterns and a really nice local collection of art.

The staff at the Hotel Monaco was exceptional and really leave no detail unnoticed. The rooms are large and price well considering the property easily fits in at the top of the market.

The location is outstanding as you can walk to the pearl, northwest, the waterfront and everything downtown Portland has to offer. It's also on a variety of train and transit routes.

The Red Star restaurant has been around for at least a decade and also has had an aesthetic update along with an always changing menu. Its always been one of my favorite places to eat and drink in Portland.

Hotel Monaco is right up there with The Nines and Hotel Lucia as a top three property in Portland. The In Touch program is also great from Kimpton. This is a must stay.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the King corner room on a higher floor. Some great view of downtown and the tops of the tree lined streets.

This hotel caught our eye on Trip Advisor as we were looking for a place to stay overnight on our way home from a holiday down south. After talking to the reservations desk we decided to spend an extra night and we are glad we did. The staff was very upbeat, friendly, knowledgable, and genuine in showing an interest in making our stay as pleasant as possible. The front doorman, Matt, was exceptional in providing suggestions for places to go and things to see. The nightly wine reception is a nice added touch, and is an enjoyable way to finish off the day before starting on evening plans. The decor also increases the hotel's appeal. This was our first time staying at a Kimpton property and we look forward to future visits!

Room Tip: We have a few allergies so we appreciated being located on the hypo allergenic floor!

Took the train from Vancouver, B.C. with our bikes. The Hotel Monaco is a short cycle from the train depot. From the moment we pulled up out front, we were made to feel welcome. Secure bike storage is in their parkade. All front line staff were happy to help, give suggestions on eateries and sights to see. The bright, artistic "Living Room" is where guests gather for morning coffee, and wine and beer in the afternoon. There was always something just a little out of the ordinary being thought of or offered -- like the tarot reader during happy hour, and a yoga class one morning. We stayed for almost a week and were upgraded to a suite. Very comfortable rooms and surprisingly quiet for downtown. Will stay here again our next trip to Portland!

Room Tip: Probably rooms on higher floors are the quieter rooms.
