Great deal online on day of arrival meant we paid far less than rack rate (which would have been expensive).

Very friendly, helpful service from everyone we met. Free wine tasting in lounge in afternoon.

Surprised to see dogs in the hotel, but then realised it's a pet-friendly hotel. There were no traces of animal in the room.

Clean and compact rooms with lovely fittings and furniture (animal print bathrobes too!).

Located in easy walking distance on everything.

Hint: park in the car park on the adjacent street corner to save money. Parking is free on streets between certain hours too.

We loved the Hotel Monaco Portland! Great service and always go above and beyond! Loved the wine reception every evening. We stayed in a suite which was very comfortable. We will definitely stay there again if we travel to Portland.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Monaco for four nights and were thoroughly impressed. Its central location is perfect for exploring downtown and the Pearl District, and is only blocks from the metro line to the airport. The friendly staff were happy to accommodate our early check-in and provide helpful tips and recommendations for exploring the area. The bold and unique decorating was a welcome departure from the norm and fit well with the "Portland experience", while the daily wine/beer reception ensured that we started our evenings off right. We would recommend this hotel to friends without hesitation.

Room Tip: If you have pet allergies be sure to ask for the hypoallergenic floor.

Had a very pleasant stay in a great location. Very nice room - clean and uniquely decorated. Appreciated valet parking and onsite restaurant and lounge. They have a daily wine reception, although we didn't participate because we had other plans. Spa next door. The hotel is a bit pricey but worth it once we booked at a discount. Signed up for Kimpton Rewards and had free internet plus $10 to use in lounge or for mini-bar.

The Hotel Monaco is perfectly located in the center of downtown -- Macy's, Nordstrom, Nike, Pioneer Square and excellent restaurants nearby. The service staff was knowledgeable, helpful; and friendly. Our room was spacious, well-appointed, and quiet. Parking was available under the hotel with professional; and friendly valets, but being downtown, pricey ($38 overnight). In light of reviews of the hotel's restaurant, we avoided it. One complaint -- the "happy hour" was disappointing to say the least -- very poor quality wine and goldfish crackers were it. Its sister hotel in Seattle does a much better spread.

One of the best hotel experiences we've had in a long time. We were able to check in early - on a Saturday no less - and were upgraded to suite which was an unexpected pleasant surprise. Staff from the reception desk, bell desk and in-room dining could not have been nicer, more genuine and willing to help. I can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel where I felt that each staff member was not only invested in doing a good job but actually cared. Some went above and beyond and provided service as good as what you find at a Four Seasons or equivalent. Super-impressed. The room was perfect - spacious, clean, quiet, nicely decorated and comfortable. The location of the property was great for walking downtown. The in-room dining food was also good and reasonably priced compared to some other resorts I've been to. Overall - I would highly recommend Hotel Monaco and if we return to Portland, I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Stayed here for 2 nights while touring west coast of America. The hotel is in a great location - easy to walk to restaurants, shops and other attractions. We were unfortunate with the weather while in Portland so it was lovely to have such a nice lounge to relax in. We got given a complimentary breakfast served in the room which was an added bonus. The 'drinks' hour in the lounge is a really nice idea and a lovely way to start the evening. The room was large - although ours - due to the shape was a little dark. However it was very comfortable and well appointed. The staff were friendly and helpful so would definitely recommend this hotel.
