“Best hotel for the money...Ever”

I used to travel a LOT when I was in the Air Force. As a result, I have a pretty good understanding of what separates a good hotel from a great hotel. Oxford Suites in Jantzen beach checks all the boxes. From the amazing breakfast, all the way down to the keycards that work through proximity as opposed to swiping, this hotel has implemented the most number of "good ideas" than any hotel in which I have ever stayed. They are not a 5 star hotel, but then again they're not trying to be. What they have done is succeeded in making me feel at home for 5 days without making me go bankrupt. I will definitely stay here again given the chance.

Let me say first of all, I will be going back to the Oxford Suites. Our room was very nice, clean and comfortable with great amenities. The staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The price was already great, but we were surprised to receive complementary beverages and snacks each evening (a pint of craft beer for me!) and a full, hot breakfast each morning. The hotel seemed to be a great places for families. There's an indoor pool and hot tub, exercise room, sauna, internet room, laundry and convenient 24-hr store on site ... and it's pet-friendly for pet lovers. We stayed on the first floor which was totally convenient for parking, our car was right outside the door. I saw that a previous poster mentioned a noisy room above theirs. Well, it's a hotel! If you bring earplugs or a noise machine just in case, that's not a problem. Or staying on the top floor is a great solution. Another poster mentioned a "smell." I didn't experience any smell except clean. I truly felt it was a little home away from home -- comfortable and convenient -- and will be going back for our next trip to Portland.

Room Tip: Stay on the top floor to avoid noisy rooms above (which really aren't a problem). Stay on the fi...

I booked 5 rooms for 11 people. We were a mixture of students and teachers coming from Montana to tour Portland businesses. The staff was amazing, they tired to accommodate all our needs. The only downside was the traffic, the hotel sits on an island between Portland and Vancouver, WA. {Portland has no Sales Tax and Vancouver, WA has no income tax) so you can imagine all the commuting that goes on........ At one point our Google maps said it would take 1 hour and 15 mins to travel 10miles..... yikes right...but at other times traffic was no biggie...just be aware of that when you are planning you trip out from this hotel or any hotel in this area.

We took a friend's recommendation and booked at the Oxford Suites for a Memorial Day weekend stay. Pam from Rochester greeted us upon check-in, and she was awesome. It got even better once we told her we had reserved a dog-friendly room, making all kinds of helpful recommendations about where to walk and even offering waste bags.

Checking in - we found a decent sized "suite" with the definitely-king bed and loveseat in a separated sitting area. Kind of a smallish TV [first world problem!] and no fan in the bathroom so it got SUPER WARM in there during the shower. A narrow, "alley" kind of room layout, but all in all decently kept. The carpet could have used a shampoo, but otherwise surfaces were very clean and the amenities nice.

The happy hour was OK -- the salad a little sorry looking and the soup was not worthwhile. But free potato chips to go with my two drinks! Hooray! And the servers were nice. Warm breakfast included patty sausage sometimes, kielbasa, scrambled, and eggs on request. Saturday morning no problem, but Sunday my GOSH it was terribly crowded. Kudos to the line guys and the bussers for keeping things going. They could have moved the coffee to where the cereal was to create space, but oh well.

We'd definitely go back if traveling with the dog. A good value, got a couple of bucks more knocked off for AAA, but the memory of Pam's excellent service at check-in would certainly entice us to return!

Room Tip: Away from ice and elevator, as always. Fortunately there are several entry points to expedite your e...

Yeah the big "but"...lets go to positive first

Positive- location, spacious rooms, clean and bed is comfy, great breakfast (better than competitors'- for the under $100 a night) and excellent customer service- specifically by Pam.

Negative - the place is kinda outdated and smells old, would be nice to repaint the rooms and remodel bathrooms. I didnt have enough hot water when it was my turn ( there were 3 of us) and lastly we hear the footsteps of people above our room, unfortunately they have a kid so you could hear running at 1am. The last two hours of our stay, we wanted to just relax and catch up on our interrupted sleep but lo and behold, there's more footsteps above plus the vacuum is on somewhere outside!

Will I be staying here again? Sure, but I would request the top floor next time :)

All the best things others have said were true for us and more. This is a great place and fantastic value with excellent service and amenities, especially in the price range. We are now devotees of Oxford for our frequent travels up and down the west coast.

We just returned from a 3 day stay at Oxford Suites and had a wonderful time. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Every day they printed a directional map for locations we wanted to visit. We received 2 free drink tickets each per night which included soup or a salad bar. The breakfast was good, great variety and it changed each day. The biscuits were delicious. Our room and all public areas were kept very clean. It was quiet, the only noise that we heard were occasional airplanes overhead. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would certainly stay here again.
There were also many restaurants in the area that were within walking distance.
